Ingame Editor

Hi DonQuiche,

I confirm that IGE is compatible with my mods (I use it myself, it's a wonderful debugging tool :) ).
The only restriction that I have noticed is that IGE must be loaded at first or it will not show up in game.

If you want to run some test here is the active link for the postmodern expansion, which requires the main mod to be loaded before it but after IGE.

The easiest solution is to use the last version of the mod : main mod and expansion are included in one mod.

I don't agree with Steam last rules for the workshop so my mods are available only from CivFanatics now.

Hello Hulfgar, thank you for dropping by and providing me the confirmation I needed. :)

So indeed it seems that it is just the old problem where civ5 refuses to load some mods, rather than a problem specific to IGE or a conflict between our mods, this is nice to hear. I still downloaded your mod to run further tests once I do have more time on my hands because it looks like this problem goes further than I thought.

And, yeah, Steam's rules have always been despicable. I didn't notice anything in the most recent version that would have been worse than in the previous iterations but I probably just missed it. Personally I no longer buy games on Steam because of that and other problems.

I found the Problem it was a steam issue and you did point Don it out where Hulfgar mods arent on steam anymore so Steam kept download/update them which was messing up the ones i installed manually but i fixed that now.

thanks you both for the help there and i knew i wasnt going insane but the mods are working fine and now i can continue my save game finally

You really should put a bigger warning on the issue with plopping resources down on a mine in territory you already own. I had to come here to find out that the game never updates the resources because the game never receives the initial "finish" update from building the mine, so you need to remove the plot from your territory and then re-add it for the game to update. However, when you remove it from your territory, it SUBTRACTS from the total before you added the resource, and when you add it again it just adds what it subtracted.

For example: You have 16 coal total, 4 is used, 12 not used. You put coal on a mine in your territory (default 8 coal). Nothing updates (should have 24 coal total but still only have 16). You remove it from your territory. EIGHT COAL IS SUBTRACTED (8 coal total, 4 is used, 4 not used). You re-add the coal to your territory. You have the original values before you even added the coal.

There is no way to fix this other than reloading from a save before you made these changes or by doubling the initial resources (doubling the resources AFTER you remove it from your territory, or else you'll subtract DOUBLE the amount of resources).

I know this isn't something you can fix, but this particular problem should be noted in the mod description itself.

Hi DonQuiche, love the IGE but i have some issues with some UI. I get errors saying unable to load textures i get about 7 of them in the loading screen of a game and then when i try to open the IGE i get 10 of the same errors.

Im using a mac
I dont have gods & kings
My copy of civ 5 is up to date and legal
I have screenshots if you need them

@Jackobno
I would like to see the paths of the missing textures but I don't think I will be able to help anyway.

This is not a problem with IGE itself, I would have heard from it a long time ago and the "OSX + no G&K" configuration is not that rare. So what comes to my mind...
* Check your install (right-click the game in steam, open properties and search the button to check the cache somewhere).
* If you do not have Steam, it's probably illegal, although you may not be aware of it. 80% of texture problems were caused by obsolete and illegal versions of the game.
* It's not IGE, it's another mod.

this is what the units section looks like when selected a unit. If you cant help then thanks for making time to talk to me about it.

What I would need is the error messages themselves. Please look at the post #2 to see how to make a lua log.
Now obviously there is more than just a textures problem.

PS: Did you try to repair game in Steam?

With this in-game editor, is it possible to change the Unique Abilities of the leader in a saved game?

For example, a leader/civ may have an extra +1 culture, and unhappiness due to the number of cities is reduced by 50%.

I want to change this to .5 culture and 30% reduction in unhappiness.

Can the in-game editor make these changes for a saved (i.e. ongoing) game?

Is there another way to do it?

I tried changing the XML leader trait file but it doesn't seem to change anything, presumably because it's a saved ongoing game and not a new game, or perhaps I did something wrong.

Thank you.

No, civ5 does not mods to change this kind of things during the course of the game (and those changes can only be static, you cannot create a traits editor mod for example).

Afaik the only way for you would be to manually edit your savegame. You would need a program like hexedit, patience and a good understanding of computers. Make backups before!

How does "Kill civilization" functionality works, I tried it in my last game, and civ's all cities names changed to mine, but they were grey. Does it mean it became barbarians or city states, or simply deserted cities?

What do you mean by "cities' names changed to mine" ? The cities were renamed? Or did their bar's color changed to your civ's color (but then what did you mean by "they were grey" ?)

Now, what IGE does is killing the civ. What happens after that is done by civ5 and may change after every patch. At the time I added the feature, the cities were simply turned to ashes, leaving ruins behind. But I think they changed the multiplayer behavior when a player leaves since then, so this feature's behavior may have been affected by this change.

Hi, first of all thank you so much for creating this amazing mod for us to play with, it has massively increased my interest for the game. However I've encountered a problem.

After installing Windows 8 on my computer IGE won't show up in my loaded games. In fact none of the mods will load. But when I start a new game everything works like charm.

And yeah, I loaded through the MOD selection.

What happened, and most importantly what do I do?

I just wanted to say "thanks" as well. It's *such* a handy mod to have running. Rather than reloading when I misclick on the map, which takes forever, I can now just fix my move using this mod. It may sound like a small thing, but it has had a *major* impact on my enjoyment of the game.
