Inhuman NES

Big question is whether or not the Shadow possessed part is the twisted side.

Thumbs up.

Seems as though there's going to be a lot more inhuman that human characters.

I'm still interested though. Is there a particular character archetype that is needed here? I have a very interesting one that I eventually planned on making into an SCP some time in the far future.

We seem to be missing a lot of completely ordinary humans.

As in civillians.

That's something I was concerned about too.

There is, so I'm not going to force anyone to play the role of an ordinary human being. The fact that they start with absolutely no knowledge of the anomalies, no knowledge of the faction, no abilities, and no special gadgets would turn me off too.

So I'll be doing the most of that through NPCs.

But I think the point of a Story NES is to enjoy yourself, not to be powerful.

In my opinion, it is not necessary to have a wicked mutation/power or what have you to create a truly compelling and interesting character.

Sometimes, it is the completely ordinary people mixed up with something completely beyond them that has the best story.

Their stories have never bored me so far.

TL;DR if you rely on supernatural forces to make your story interesting, you are probably doing it wrong.

But anyhow if you want to play as an archetype inhuman being...

I don't know make something up.

It's all in the way you say it really. A good writer can make any character compelling, no matter how powerful they are.

For the sake of balance though, I'll keep my other character on hold and give this a nice Human character.

This is a work in progress but seeing as I'm on the fence and there is a shortage, I'm going to play a human. His name is Roy, he is a semi-insane commander working for the keepers; he zealously hates all anomalies and is a veteran of multiple missions. I'll post a more detailed description later.

Roy Brocco biography.
Sergeant Brocco was born in Ireland to an ordinary family with two older brothers and a little sister. Roy was fearful but kept this in check by taking up certain hobbies, among them include hunting, martial arts, and lifting weights. Brocco became confident he could handle anything as he grew into a man, this illusion was shattered the day something began killing the livestock of his father, a successful cattle rancher. Brocco, 19 at the time, and his brothers went out together determined to kill whatever beast was doing this. Armed with rifles and there fathers eight wolf hounds they followed a trail into the woods. When they came to a cave where the trail ended they sent the dogs in, there was a spike of loud barking that was immediately cut off with a squeal. After a few minutes some sort of abomination came out, it was too dark to make out clearly but within eight seconds both of Roy's brothers exploded, showering him with blood and making him hysterical. Within ten seconds a gunshot rang out and the creature was dead, Roy was not the marksman however. Roy wandered aimlessly until a man with a high caliber sniper rifle on his back stopped him, a bottle of pills in his left hand and a tazer in his right. He told Roy that he just had to take a pill and everything would be okay. Even after it was explained they would only wipe his memory Roy begged not to take them, he said he'd do anything to keep his memories; believing that losing them would be the same as dying. At his exclamation the mysterious man simply told Roy to come with him. A year later he was in the service of the protectors. Roy is mentally unstable but not violently, he takes pills to calm himself down before missions and commonly abuses them to knock himself out(though never while on a job) so he can forget how scary the world is. His family thinks him dead, and he doesn't want them to know the true nature of the world, the organization had it written off that he was killed with his brothers in a bear attack on that fateful night.

Skills
Roy is an expert martial artist, focused around grapples, escaping and enforcing them. He is also an incredible marksman with both his pistol and various assault rifles. He has the physic of an Olympic athlete. While a nervous wreck in private he is a pillar of stability and strength among his subordinates, his position as a field sergeant is well deserved.

Does anyone know the wait time on when this will start? Also on which forum?

As soon as few other people that expressed interest joins.

On this forum, Garett :P

It's not a certain number of people as much as the fact that there is someone who expressed interest in the game who hasn't posted yet :P

Here we go, hope this is acceptable.

Name: Erlang Shen

Due to his former status as a Keeper agent, most of his history before Agent ████████'s employment in the agency has been destroyed in accordance with standard policy. Before his desertion from the agency, he was a high-ranking field agent tasked with retrieving some of the more dangerous anomalies for the Keepers. ████████ had an interest in Eastern philosophy and frequently expressed distaste with administering amnesiacs to witnesses, but was otherwise a mentally sound and trustworthy agent.

His desertion came shortly after [REDACTED] escaped containment and attacked the Agent ████████, administering severe burns and lacerations. After suffering a nervous breakdown during recuperation, the decision was made to terminate him. The plan was halted when Agent ████████ escaped containment with the help of several personnel, some of whom were present when the attack by [REDACTED] took place. A kill order was put out and the general public was told that the rogue agents were wanted terrorists.

The rogue agents remained at large until February of 2001, when an unknown force assaulted a Keeper containment facility, resulting in the death or injury of several agents, the breach of containment of captive inhumans, and the theft of several objects of interest. The rogue Keepers were immediately suspected of the break-in, as ████████ was last assigned to the attacked facility and one of the objects stolen was an anti-memetic pendant of Far Eastern origin, an object that Agent ████████ had shown interest in.

Shortly after the attack, Dr. ████████ was contacted via cellphone as he was surveying the damage. The call has been transcribed here, but thus far has thwarted attempts to trace it.

Dr. ████████: Hello?

Unknown: This is a sign of what is to come.

Dr. ████████: I...Excuse me?

Unknown: They must not be hidden away. They must not be buried.

Dr. ████████: Who is this? What are you talking about?

Unknown: Harmony comes from co-existence. Through truth we will survive.

Dr. ████████: What the hell...

Unknown: Those who hide in shadows will fall. The Third Eye will bring light. The Third Eye will destroy fear as you have prolonged it.

Dr. ████████: (shouting) Who the hell are you!?!

Unknown: Erlang Shen has sent you a message.

At this point, the unknown caller hung up.

Through interrogation of captured rogues soon after the phone call, it is believed that the Third Eye is a guerrilla force whose major goal is to reveal the presence of inhumans and similar anomalies to the general public. Members of the Third Eye have proven elusive to track, and recent trespassing, cyber attacks, and theft in some of the less secure Keeper sites are believed to be linked to the Third Eye. Intercepted Protector transmissions seem to indicate that the Third Eye has targeted their establishments as well, resulting in the release of [REDACTED] earlier this month.

Current intelligence also suggests that former Agent ████████ is the leader of the Third Eye and is believed to be using the alias Erlang Shen. Interrogations of Third Eye insurgents have indicated that they know of Erlang Shen's former employment, and his followers consider him as a hero for "daring to reveal the secrets that the world keeps hidden away." Several of the agents who escaped with Shen also appear to be ringleaders in the organization. Consequently, the Third Eye has been labeled as a danger to the Keepers organization, and all agents have been instructed to kill Erlang Shen on site.

More to come tomorrow, it's getting late. :)

Spoiler :
I just noticed that my character and my avatar share a remarkable similarity. :mischief:

Take a wild guess.

Mmm. I was myself debating whether or not I wanted Agent Janciewicz to be a human or not, I settled for an anomalous history, which seemed like a good way to explain how he ended up blind and in the organization.
