adiii,

Did your computer have another meltdown?.......

Jul 03, 2006, 10:47 PM "got it"

Jul 05, 2006, 09:48 PM current timestamp......

In one hour that makes 48 hours..... What happened adiii you were going to post today. I think if by tomorrow noonish adiii doesn't post I think Krockel should play......just to keep the game moving.

Adiii's computer might have screwed up again and he's out of commission.....

Go for it Krockel as adiii seems to be out of commission again. The game has stalled now for 3 days and I don't think adiii has a functioning computer otherwise we would have heard from him.

Ok, "got it" then.

I'll play later tonight. 10 turns sounds like the right amount.

I had a look at the save and the only one we can get Alex to declare on is HC, he wants Theology and Priesthood for that. I am tempted to have him declare on HC, the question is how much effort he will put in that war, or if he's just gonna play at a phony-war for two tech. On the other hand HC have some decent land, which are far away from the other civs, so we can go cottage-heavy there without having to worry to much about defence, and have our existing cities focus all on military.

Oye....I think giving Alex theology might be a bad thing considering it will allow him to better his units and already has advantage being aggressive. It's up to you Krockel but I just don't trust Alex. If we could capture Cuzco would be nice and I think the sword is almost there. We just need some more troops and we finished with construction so can build cats/elephants and then we will be invincible. MOHAAAAAAAA

Isabella’s Inquisition 75 – 325 AD

Pre-turn:
Monarchy in 4 turns, I’ll think Currency or Code of Laws is the way to go after that.
I’ll focus on military production and set up an army which next player could use to crush Huayna once and for all. But, we also need to keep a decent amount of troops in our homeland. We’re squeezed between some ugly boys.
We have 3 workers, so I’ll try to build one more during my turns.
Madrid is put on avoid growth; although it could support two more pops before happy-limit. I undo that and take off the scientist in favor of working plain hill and plain ivory.
Seville keeps its two scientist and chances are good for GS here (119/200).
Cordoba is a city which I believe we should :whipped: a lot so I emphasize growth and commerce there.

1:
Madrid: Sword -> Catapult (3)
Barcelona: Sword -> Catapult (5)
Seville: Axe -> Christian Temple (13). For happiness, possible priest specialist and to get
some two-way culture pressure on the horses by Cordoba.
Cordoba: Put Catapult before the wall, better to whip that one.
Our scout is up by Bismarck, I turn him on auto-explore, because we know nearly our entire continent and I don’t really bother to assign him where to go every turn.
Our brave swordsman reaches Cuzco, it’s lightly defended but have 60 % culture defense so we need cats to take that down before we attack.

2:
Monty demands Iron Working. Hell no! No jaguars for you psycho!

3:
Our swordsman fortifies on Incan naked iron.

4:
Monarchy comes in and I send one worker to connect some wine up by Barcelona.
We revolt to Heredity Rule for happiness and Theocracy for troop experience.
I chose Code of Laws for our next tech. I think we can be able to trade for currency with Alex later.
Madrid: Catapult –> Catapult (2)

We're keeping up a quite good-tech pace.

Civ4ScreenShot0009.JPG

5:
Monty cancels our Open Border agreement. No surprises.
Seville: Christian Temple -> Archer (8)
Cordoba get a good :whipped:

6:
Madrid: Catapult -> Worker (4)
Barcelona: Catapult -> Catapult (4)
Saladin converts to Confucianism, which is a good thing cause then we can take him out before we declare on the Hinduism clan (Monty, Bismarck)

7:
:beer:

8:
:sleep:

9:
Alex shows up and demand Monarchy. I give it to him without hesitation. He’s our only potential ally. Wow! Alex, potential, ally…. Something is rotten in the state of…. Spain.
Well, we got +1 in relations with him due to this. Nice! J To kiss his great behind a little more I trade away wheat for clams to him, we have no health problems anyway.
Our treasury chest is almost empty, so I run 0 % research for a turn.

10:
Madrid: Worker -> War Elephant (3)
Barcelona: Catapult -> War Elephant (7)
Both of this can be vetoed, but I these jumbos rocks against Horse Archers, which Alex have due to the fact that he’s still in control of the horses down by Cordoba. Temple will finish in Cordoba next turn, so I believe we should get horses at next border pop though.
Speaking of the devil, Alex does complete the Great Lighthouse in Athens.
Wine is now connected and I believe it’s a fine Rioja .

Out of 4 workers are 2 located up by Barcelona, I believe their next move should be to chop/farm the grassland forest by the river and connect some more wine.

Civ4ScreenShot0010.JPG

The other worker pair is assigned to Cordoba and the Incan city Cosmic conquered earlier.

We have a decent attack force to invade Huayna with, 3 cats, 4 swords, 1 spear and 1 axe medic is outside or inside Incan borders. Another Catapult is rolling out Barcelona at the moment, that one could be on a go-to-command, sorry about that.

Research wise are we getting CoL in next turn. We’ve no viable trades to do, the only one who seam willing to trade with us at all is Alex and it’s difficult to make trades with him, we don’t want to give him to many, or preferably any, military tech. He know currency and calender, techs I think we should be able to trade with him sometime in the future.
For our next research tech I opt for Literature, so we can build the GL in Seville (my choice) or Madrid. After that I believe Feudalism is a good choice, Vassalage, Serfdom and Longbows.

Nice turnset Krockel,

Having some phants and cats will make taking Cuzco easier. Good to get Alex on our good side and giving a tech away will pay off in the long run.

Roster:
1. Cosmichail --> Warmongering anonymous
2. Adiii --> skip --> lost in the land of computer breakdowns
3. Krockel --> Just played --> set up the next warmonger
4. Omurtag-->UP-->victim of cruel oppression, maybe he can deliver some on HC
5. Adamlan--> on deck --> HC awaits you to destroy him
6. Foolonthehill--> What wonder will he build next?

Adiii where are you????

Cosmic, why have you deprived me of a place in history? I will not forget your cruel oppresion :lol: This is the correct roster, I think:

Roster:
1. Cosmichail -->
2. Adi --> skipped
3. Krockel --> Just played
4. Omurtag --> Up now!
5. Adamlan --> On deck
6. Foolonthehill

Nice turns Krockel, I like everything you've done. Will be able to play soon :)

Omurtag.....

Sorry about that I copy blocked it over too so I don't know how that happened. Must be the gremlin that's keeping Adiii away.

Oh please, please forgive my cruel oppression........:crazyeye:

It was a fun set of turns. There was some heroic performance from a lone swordsman, capturing a city all alone, but we will come to this :) Basically we took two of the three cities, with the third city falling on the next turn. And we started the Great Library.

Turn 0

Starting a granary in Cordoba, b/c with the bonus we get from being expansive, we can whip it on the next turn for just one pop. I also was thinking about the Great Library, and I agree that we should try it.

Turn 1
starting to research Literature

Turn 2
We got a scientist from Seville, hmm...

Turn 3

Ok, obviously we are going to build an Academy with our scientist. But where? I think in the same city as the Great Library. The perfect spot for the GL is in Seville, but there we have only a single hill, cows and a few forests. It'll take about 40 turns, even if we chop all trees. While in Madrid it would take the half of that. With the lake tiles producing 3 food with the lighthouse, Madrid should have enough food to be a gp farm for quite some time. Alhough, we might change the GP farm after the GL is obsoleted with Astronomy, just a thought, I've never done this before, but see no reason why we can't.

So our future GL goes in Madrid, as well our academy:

Alex knocks on the door, asks for some elephants. Sorry, I haven't seen them, I say :crazyeye: By the way, he doesn't want to trade anything but Calendar, and Calendar obsoletes 'henge, so not right now. He's still pleased.

On the other side, while we wait for the cats to reach Cuzco, a Swordsman explores south of the city and finds Machu Pichu.

400fullhealth5dn.jpg

Notice the green flag chariot, it belongs to Monty, obviously he wants his share... This city is very important, since it has a lot of strategic resources, including Marble for the GL. I wish I brought more than a single sword here, but the rest are needed at Cuzco.

Turn 4

Homer is BIFL :eek: Someone just has researched Music. That someone probably had Literature long before us, and he might be building the GL.

Turn 5
Cuzco's defence down to zero. Attack on next turn.

Remember the lone sword? Monty sent his chariots attacking the city, without much succes, and the result:

450begin7bu.jpg

So we have a sword, and they have two chariots and a quechua, all injured. Hmm... :lol: Check back in a few turns.

Turn 6
Cuzco is ours :hammer: We lost a cat.

475cuzco5uf.jpg

Turn 7
We start the GL in Madrid, it would take about 20 turns without Marble. I didn't chop any forests in my turnset, the next player might want to.

Research set to Metal Casting, couldn't think of a better choice.

Remember our sword at Machu Pichu? He conquered the city all alone :goodjob: a beast, he is ;)

500final7ex.jpg

In the last three turns nothing worth mentioning happened. I just moved some units to HC's last city.

560lastcity6ho.jpg

And the picture of our empire:
560empire0ty.jpg

Great Library due in 18 Turns
Metal Casting due in 4 Turns

Most of the time I've been building millitary units, with the exception of lighthouse in Madrid, a temple and a granary in Tiwanaku.

A couple of notes for the next player, Adamlan. Machu Pichu has only a single swordsman now, reinforcements should be a priority. It might be a good idea to chop some forests for the GL in Madrid.

Edit: Forgot to mention, that I fired the scientists in Seville and sent them to work the forests for a few turns (production was needed) You may want to bring them back to scientific duty.

Roster:
1. Cosmichail -->
2. Adi --> skipped
3. Krockel -->
4. Omurtag --> Just played
5. Adamlan --> Up now!
6. Foolonthehill --> On deck

And the save file:

Good job Omurtag.... (have you forgiven me yet???)

Is that HC's last city. So everybody is in on it now including Alex/Monty. If Alex is warring against HC then it helps us with the mutual struggle bonus.

I agree that the best spot for GL is Madrid. Adamlan HC is almost finished good job guys.....

great turn set omurtag on my turn set i will hope to chop the GL finish hc off and im just gonna ask who shud we atak next im thinkin saladin i will start buildin a military force 4 the next person i will post the turns tomoz

Adamlan....

Me likes the idea of attacking that annoying infidel Saladin. Puttin those cities there like Baghdad just gets my goat....baaaaa.....

Now the games a moving again and Adiii is in the twilight zone......
