For those who want a second opinion before posting in "what they're listening to".

What grade would you give the song at the top of the page?

It's fine.

Here's what she allegedly sings (in quite a nice voice).

Hands to the Sky

Do you think that you and I will see each other again?
Do you think that you and I have a future together?
Do you think that you and I will live for a long time to come?
I don't think so.

Do you think that you and I will remember this night?
Do you think that you and I will dream ourselves back?
Do you think that we will live happily ever after?
Even if we never see each other anymore.

Hands up in the air.
Forehead to the bar, now we'll blow the roof.
End up in Heaven, where the angels are crying.
The city's awake, everything's forgiven, darling!
Hands up in the air.
We'll get drunk, life is meaningless.
Who cares?
The night is beautiful, you're like the night.
And I'm a winner again.

Do you thing that you and I will win this race?
Do you think that you and I stand a chance against all the others?
I wish I could go on something more than just the feeling,
that everything is already too late.

So... maybe not a highly significant lyric, but so what? Any listener either likes it or they don't.

3rd grade
:p So? I can give you a link about how ISIS is burying women and children alive, if you want more maturity. It would be more in line with the rest of OT atm.

Thanks for the review. It's a nice Swedish pop song. Nothing more to it. It's difficult to apprehend how it sounds for a foreigner though.

You should've waited for few weeks & post it more appropriately on September but it's more than fine. And we if adjust scale keeping in mind my devout dislike of the language it's excellent. Probably the years singing in English has some affect on her pronunciation but if modern Swedish were spoken like this I'd be much happier.
Carl Bildt is probably one of the worst while his English on the other hand is fine. Everytime I hear him speaking Swedish I have a sudden urge to destroy something, usually starting with the media he's on.

The song Creep (Radiohead, I like the TLC song of the same name too) comes to mind. And Self Esteem (Offspring), though as a virgin teenager listening to the song I couldn't understand how one could simultaneously be getting laid & have low self-esteem. Now, of course I understand.

Carl Bildt speaks with a rather heavy accent/dialect though. From Halmstad in southern Sweden which makes him able to produce some pretty funny lines when he tries too. He's kind of a hawk also, so maybe the dislike is a bit personal too?

Petra Marklund otoh sings as neutral as you can.

The point of the thread was to post a youtube song per page and then discuss/like/dislike it until the next song. It seems more interactive and interesting than just posting "what you're listening to".

Oh really?

In that case, tell me what you think of this.

Spoiler :
Sittin' down by my window,
Honey, lookin' out at the rain.
Lord, Lord, Lord, sittin' down by my window,
Baby, lookin' out at the rain.
Somethin' came along, grabbed a hold of me,
And it felt just like a ball and chain.
Honey, that's exactly what it felt like,
Honey, just dragging me down.

And I say, oh, whoa, whoa, now hon', tell me why,
Why does every single little tiny thing I hold on goes wrong ?
Yeah it all goes wrong, yeah.
And I say, oh, whoa, whoa, now babe, tell me why,
Why does every thing, every thing.
Hey, here you gone today, I wanted to love you,
Honey, I just wanted to hold you, I said, for so long,
Yeah! Alright! Hey!

Love's got a hold on me, baby,
Feels just like a ball and chain.
Now, love's just draggin' me down, baby, yeah,
Feels like a ball and chain.
I hope there's someone out there who could tell me
Why the man I love wanna leave me in so much pain.
Yeah, maybe, maybe you could help me, come on, help me!

And I say, oh, whoa, whoa, now hon', tell me why,
Now tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me why, yeah.
And I say, oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, when I ask you,
When I need to know why, c'mon tell me why, hey hey hey,
Here you've gone today,
I wanted to love you and hold you
Till the day I die.
I said whoa, whoa, whoa!!

And I say oh, whoa, whoa, no honey
It ain't fair, daddy it ain't fair what you do,
I see what you're doin' to me and you know it ain't fair.
And I say oh, whoa whoa now baby
It ain't fair, now, now, now, what you do
I said hon' it ain't fair what, hon' it ain't fair what you do.
Oh, here you gone today and all I ever wanted to do
Was to love you
Honey an' I think there can be nothing wrong with that,
Only it ain't wrong, no, no, no, no, no.

Sittin' down by my window,
Lookin' at the rain.
Lord, Lord, Lord, sittin' down by my window,
Lookin' at the rain, see the rain.
Somethin' came along, grabbed a hold of me,
And it felt like a ball and chain.
Oh this can't be in vain
And I'm gonna tell you one just more time, yeah, yeah!

And I say oh, whoa whoa, now baby
This can't be, no this can't be in vain,
And I say no no no no no no no no, whoa!
And I say whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Now now now now now now now now now no no not in vain
Hey, hope there is someone that could tell me
Hon', tell me why,
Hon', tell me why love is like
Just like a ball
Just like a ball
Baaaaaaalllll
Oh daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy
And a chain.
Yeah!

Amazing performance by a unique and amazing artist. Good song too. Although I think I'd like to like Janis Joplin more than I really do. Not sure why I don't want to listen to her more. Too much wailing perhaps? I like this more:
Spoiler :

^ What? How is that relevant? (Not that it needs to be, of course.)

What struck me about Janis Joplin's performance was her total involvement with the song. It's a display of total commitment, I think.

I always used to think she just went in for a lot of gratuitous wailing, but now I'm not so sure.

Led Zeppelin. Well, prog rock by definition, I guess.

I remember when this came out in 1969, the Catholic Church, and others, seemed to be genuinely concerned for the future of our souls.

I thought about it too. I also thought that among female artists, I haven't seen it as much as this I think. Much drugs in that era, but she seemed to get more aware of herself in the end I thought. Some people just lose themselves in their art more than others, I guess. Interesting nonetheless.
