It seems to be a recurring bug for him:

Wait... our only city is named Athen.

Lord Emsworth is right. I took the liberty to change the english spelled Athens to the IMHO more correct sounding german, danish and norwegian spelled Athen.

It should be Athenai in greek.

Oh, Thebes is spelled historical correct Thebae in my game.

@Anyoldguy: the annoyed domestic advisor over a happy city has been posted before in this thread. Thats not my computer only.

I have not seen the wrong city advisor again so far. ;)

Shouldn´t it be Thebai and thus Ancient Greek? Thebae is the Latin name version afaik.

Yes, Templar X is right too, but to be totally historical correct one should rename Thebae/Thebai/Thebes/Theben into Waset or Niut, because thats what the ancient egypts named that city... probably... ;)

I just tried to name my cities more or less by their original or local name.

it depends on which Eyptian period you want to reflect. in the Ptolemaian period the Ancient Greek name would be perfectly fine.

The Egyptian city list is just a mess of Egyptian, Greek and Arabic names. They don't have a clear period in mind at all.

But never mind that, I've ranted about the city lists enough in this thread. :D

Are there any Arabic cities on the Egyptian list aside from Cairo?

more of an AI , the fool event ... Whenever hostile troops arrive workers stop and run to nearest city , cool . But let's see the one below . Those 5 or 6 workers are working the iron mines near Knossos when my tank army shows up ; and they all stop work and start running to ... Sparta ? Is that because Sparta will be better defended ?

I continued today an older savegame on the greek Ptolemy map.

To my surprise a egyptian worker started building roads far away from home on real life turkish peninsula and then continued travelling north building roads in the Balkan - all in the middle of the Byzantine Empire.

Our border runs south of the Levante nearly on the real border between Egypt and Israel. So the roads are useless for Hatshesput, except of course for a futile suicide attack...

Any idea why the Egypts would do that? Our border runs south of the Levante nearly on the real life border between Egypt and Israel.

I've seen this before fairly frequently. Presumably the Egyptians have or are working toward a resource colony somewhere in the north. The AI will build as close to a bee-line as possible, but it's not clever enough to calculate existing roads in the route.

I could not get a screen shot of it last night, but the AI did one of the astonishingly quick Barbarian numbers increase, when in one turn on a modified Age of Discovery scenario, it boosted two Seminoles camp in North Florida from 2 Conscript Archers to 2 Conscript Archers and 24 Conscript Pikeman in one turn. Therefore I went from having 2 camps with a total of 4 Conscript Archers to deal with to having two camps with those same 4 Conscript Archers along with 48 Conscript Pikeman. At times, the AI can be extraordinarily prolific.

I've never heard of this, but looking at the map, I'm guessing it's based off of an ancient Greek Map that wasn't terribly accurate.

I've heard of him, but I didn't know he ever made maps.

You know what I hate?

Leaders pouring into your capital after all worthy wonders have been allready buildt.

I have got three in a row. And no, the only worthy wonder left is Hoover Dam (and maybee UN and Apollo), but there is not a single river on the entire map.

Surely there's a river somewhere on the map, even if there aren't any on your island.

It's great when you are first to be able to build Hoover Dam, only to realize there are no rivers anywhere. I've also had some of those maps without a single river.

The river generating programing in the random map generation is garbage. A way around this is to mod the things that require rivers so they no longer require them.
