Interesting Screenshots

That would be an interesting game to play out, you have all that wheat but it is flood plains, desert and plains otherwise. Still and all...

I conquered the world with such a start, it isn't impossible. ;)

Well, I'm in middle ages (530 AD) And am having problems - having 2 strongest AI's next to me, Russia is considered dead - once I get Novgorod, that'd take some time as musketmen in size 6+ town fort. are not so simple to flush out with M.I. .

Am having problems in science -being one of the last. Due war(s) (5 AI's declared me in like 5 turns) My revolt to repo was in ~100 AD and lasted for 7 turns :(

RNG gods don't want me to get my first emperor win (first try on emperor, if you count out SG I am in) :(

Spoiler For zoomed out view :

I'm trying to get monarchy, as no-one else seems to have it - I am last in tech (of AI's I know), having monarchy would prolly allow me to atleast do the "gift new government" trick.

Novgorod will be mine, I've taken out 2 muskets out of 4 already, but those pesky longbows are beating my M.I. in while longbows are defending - RNG is against me.

Ok, as I seem to have such great starts then what about this, just rolled it.

8 Bonus Grasslands and 2 Cattle

managed right, this city will be a 30 shielder

Oh, don't forget 2 rivers and 4 or 5 those cuddly elephants near my starting positsion. Best start for emperor - for me. And why *ONLY* 30 shielder?

Edit: Lol, horses and Iron w/ one square in between.2 long rivers, 3 luxes nearby. Settler factory (5-6 cycle with worker-settler-worker cycle, I'm HAPPY), fresh water inland lake and just Arabians stealing those 4 cuddly elephants & german SoD approaching that city :D)

Here's a good old fashioned AI diplomacy pic:

ahaha.... the AI diplomacy is always funny

PS-is it just me, or was that a Screenshot of the Day, or something like it?
It seems familiar

Another of that type:

Here is a screen that made me blink. I had just kicked the Hittites off their continent. I was thinking about trying to keep a city that had Magellan's.

I looked and saw I had 199 cities and they had 8 on three islands. So I check on the culture and see it is over 130K. I then notice they have over 12K in score and I have 7K.

Not really a shock, but still ugly. I managed to past the Aztec's as they have never gotten any extra land and have 28 cities. All those centuries of them making culture and wonders and pop.

I am still going to try to hold the place as I think I can put them out the game in 2 turns.

Go for it vmxa! I have seen what you can do so I have no doubt that they will be roasting marshmallows for a pastime really soon.

Playing as Portugal, I popped a settler from a goody hut near Paris early in the game. Right outside the French capital were four herds of elephants, so I grabbed all of them, even though it was so close to Paris it restricted their first cultural expansion a bit.

I didn't think they'd like that, so I braced for war. Imagine my surprise when, instead, they came along and hooked one up for me:

That is so weird. I have seen them do odd stuff to get an irrigation run going but there is nothing to suggest that in this photo.

Maybe they are already thinking of that Ivory as being theirs  time to pump up the defenses there.

About that French worker; I think he's either very foolish, getting confused by your civ color (France normally plays in pink), or he has a profound understanding of the game mechanics, and realises the flip chance for Guimaraes is considerable, being under the cultural influence of Paris.
But it's not uncommon for an AI worker to hook up a resource before it's in their territory. He was probably already on his way before you planted Guimaraes? Still, it beats having a slave!

Guimaraes was there for quite a while before the worker showed up. I don't think they're paying attention to the ivory at all; they just wanted to hook up their city, and this was the quckest route. Here's a shot from after they finished it:

It was nice of them to road my elephants; I almost feel bad about the section near Emerita I'm about to pillage. :)

In a recent game the Koreans were very nicely building a railroad for me.

In a recent game the Koreans were very nicely building a railroad for me.

I just did that for England. We had an ROP going and it slowed my people down to a crawl when they got there so I went in and roaded and railed a fast route to connect my distant/acquired lands. One-move units could take up to 10 turns . Rails cut that to zero so maybe Korea was feathering its own nest :king:

Nah... not likely

Okay, I'll take guesses as to how this happened (check the date!):

1. Very early hit by a nearby neighbour?
2. Volcano?

(I have no idea of course - it's a bit early to find out! I promise, if I ever work out where Beijing was, to get back here and say!)
