Interesting Screenshots

So maybe not so quick at the button... :p

Wouldn't that suck to get barbs?

:lol::lol::lol:
I started out next to barbarians. It was a good spot though, so I took out their camp too, but then I was raided.

Twice.

@Sweetchuck: You can't get any if you don't have any cities, and he's expansionistic (see the scout) :p

@Bllasae: I assume they just took the gold you got from their camp?

I think they also took what I started out with (10 Gold, if I'm not mistaken).

I see this on occasion in my games... The map generator doesn't seem to have standards to meet when placing resources.

You can get the whale by settling one SW of Mt. No-fishies. It's the fish that's blocked.

Fish can swim well enough where humans (at least those without sufficient naval technology) can't poach them, can't they? Makes sense to me.

I feel your pain, Darski. My map generator delights in blocking sea resources with mountains, or by putting a cow or grain bonus on the only tile one could settle on to grab a seafood bonus. I think this is the only emoticon appropriate: :splat:

My map generator has also taken a liking to starting me two squares from a river as of late :shake:

EDIT: Oh yeah, and does anyone else just love the fish that occasionally pop up in 1-tile lakes?

...or cleared marshland...

Took me a long time to see it too. But with an irrigated RR tile you get something like 8 food out of it.

Hmm? Fish = +2f +1c, irrigate = +1f, RR = +1f, base tile will be grass after clearing the marsh = 2f. That give 6f total, giving you essentially a wheat tile with +1 commerce on top.

...anyway, an "interesting" screenshot of my own - something you don't see every day:

Worker_Factory.jpg

The floor is open to explain what's interesting/unusual/particularly cool about this city.

Easy one.
Spoiler :
2-turn worker factory w/o granary. What I really find amazing is that you not only supply enough food for 2-turn growth, but also get enough shields.

Correct....

...but I reckon with the BG across the mountains I may have enough shields (with 2 mined hills) to make it a 4-turn settler factory w/o the granary. Not sure I want to in the context of the game though. I've had cities like this with rails before, but this is a first early on.
