I really don't see any point to this ...

Inovative punctuation marks seems to me just to be a cheap way of replace precise vocabulary and efficient wordings as a way of communicating emotions, nuances in texts etc.

extra key?
spanish keyboards have alot more items on them and no more keys
Shift + Caps lock + 1 = Introbang
Shift + Caps lock + 2 = Sarcasam mark
Shift + Caps lock + 3 = Irony (spl?) mark

....I need to work on a program to allow the user to Shift + caps customise 10 new items *thinks* *thinks* *thinks* *thinks*

The interrobang is hardly recognizable for what it is in a size 12 (or equivalent) font, and would just lead to confusion.

By the way, according to my English teacher, ?! is not suitable for formal writing. I say that's crap. The "English language usage panel" can burn in hell.

Elta has a good idea.
It should be on the keyboard, in the sense that it should be a meta key. Let me explain:
Hitting the key marked "A" on my keyboard results in this: a
Shift-A → A
AltGr-A → ª
Shift-AltGr-A → º
LeftCtrl-Shift-AltGr-A-5 → ¥
(The last is actually one of a family of LeftCtrl-Shift-AltGr-A combinations. I can get really wierd symbols like ભ)

And if you're not seeing the above red symbols, your browser is poorly configured.

I would say yes, because there really is no reason not to have it, right?! I mean, if the intobang weren't on the keyboard, we wouldn't use it, and the symbol would become obsolete. We need to keep the intobang as a part of the English language, no matter what we must sacrifice!

I say No. Language is a way to express ourselfs.
That IntoBang makes me think of Newspeak (the artificial language invented and, by degrees, imposed by the Party to limit the capacity to express or even think "unorthodox" thoughts) in 1984.

I disagree partly in that the internet is free anyway, I've never seen this space have any conditions forced upon it, it simply goes where it will by concensus. If the intobang isn't on our keyboards now since it's inception it most likely never will be. Esperanto is a fine example of where language goes. Just by being here now we see this, our language has evolved exponentially since the internets birth, but no one has ever dictated where the it goes, it just ends up in the most commonly held place. Ok 1337 is probably a little useless, but it amuses people. evolution of language stands or falls on survival of the fittest.

oh god. what if we built a time machine and in a thousand years people speak in 1337 and numbers have fused with letters :o

that would be insane

but it would also open new doors in language as long as people dont overuse it.

idk, it will probably never happen but ohwell

The Interrobang is meant to increase our expressive capacity not decrease it!

You're being silly!

no no no ... well I was not trying to

when I see two simbols in one I see it as a reduction of expressive capacity.

reducing the characters is just a start.

This isn't reducing the number of charcters it's increasing the number. Noone is saying that we should get rid of the exclaimation mark or the question mark!

Im having trouble expressing myself tonight! 12 hours of work is long.

Using the Intobang is not bad by itself, heck I think the symbol is cool! It is not hard to type a ?! .... so by putting it in 1 symbol it makes your brain think less. Think of it like the ''texto'' on the net, ''See U l8tr'' see you later, is a good example. Im not saying that we wont use the ? and the !, Im saying that it starts with a symbol and after words get cut down to the simplest expression, talking in phonetics is not that good and a IntoBang makes me feel like a start to all this.

Sorry if you don't understand what I mean but ill blame that on my half-opened eyes.

and Cheezy .... 1984 is a more and more a true vision of reality.
