Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I had a lot of fun with this unit, and also made it rather quickly. This wasn't intended to be a starcrafty unit, but I guess it is like the towers in that game.

This would work sooo well as an immobile invisible unit, popping out of the ground when you try to move over it. Give it a good defence and paradrop, then when it's placed it just lurks in wait...

Cool unit however you use it.

I prefer the Ion Cannon from Tiberian Sun. That would be cool, having it charge up (drawing in blue light or something) and then firing in one solid blue beam, annihilating everything. Cool nonetheless though.
