IOT: Dawn of Man

Other than trading, how do I go about getting more water? Will claiming coastal tiles give me extra water? As a plains nation I find it hard to believe that I am this lacking in water. Desert, yes, but plains? I thought I just had a bad roll for my starting province which is why I expanded as fast as I did in hopes of getting better lands that could support me.

That said: anyone want to trade some EP for water (and food)?

Lakeside provinces provide +3 water, forest +1, and jungle +3.
After some techs are available, it'll be easier to get water, but you'll also have higher populations...

But, yes, the primary way is expansion or trading.
Coastal tiles (meaning water, not land next to water) provide 2 food, rather than water.
Also note, you have the 2nd largest population, so you will have a harder time (given that the largest is lakeside and near jungles)

Swaziland, Funan will offer you food and water in exchange for EP.
Please note, even if you accept this, you will still be running a water deficit.

Sorry, I'm not sure how to go about this one. Dropping out, just delete my nation.

Build 2 population and claim the dark green provinces
Build 2 armies

Who is the dark red NPC near me (its starting province is seen on my claim map)?

The tribal union spreads as other costal people settle into villages and join us, but the chief is worried. Rumor spreads of other nations, some stronger than us. What will happen to our country in the future?

OOC: How did the NPCs get so powerful?!:eek:

@spaceman:
The NPC you are talking about is the Kanem Empire (sometimes Kanem-Bornu).
As far as the NPCs go, most of them are in jungles or are lakeside, so they have good food and water.
Kanem (above you) happens to also have a high EP output, as does the Huari (red Andean state with tons of military).
Teotihuacan (Central America) has a high population, but it's actually crippled because of that.
The Seminole (Yellow NA nation) is benefitted by not needing pop. to expand (NA's trait), and that Tambien's Virginia Imperium gave it EP last turn.
Of all of those, I'd only be (currently) worried about Kanem (seeing its proximity to you) and the Seminole (high EP + no pop to expand = massive nation).

All income in armies.

Rules Change:
Due to issues with water and food generation, next round, Plains, Forest, and Jungle will provide and additional 1 food and water, and Highlands will provide an additional 1 food.

These rule changes will not affect the update currently in progress.

The OP will be updated to reflect this at the time of the change.

Lastly, I am still awaiting orders from many player nations (All of Europe, among others). It is requested you submit orders as soon as possible.

CivOasis- a question. Do the abilities extend to the entire civilization, no matter what region we are talking about? Or do usual rules for that region apply there.

For Example-
Lets say I was to expand into Mexico, would I still have my no pop expansion bonus, or would I be bound by rules for that region?

Its by starting region (you'll notice some effects are nation-wide).
Colonial secessions will be case-by-case (parent region or current region), biased for RP and balance.

GUyS I HAVE JUST JOINED A new job, hence my inability to appear regularly might be a problem :(

oasis, what about my newly acquired area ?

@bonefang:
Your new area will appear in the next update (in progress)

@all:
Not being able to update does not mean you aren't able to participate - you might lose some land, but, unless you are at war, your nation will not dissapear, so don't quit if you miss an update.
That being said, I would like to see a little more participation in the future, so recruits are welcomed.

Korea asks for trade to anyone who wants to trade.

since we have a lot of EP's and some good population count as well, we will take over 2 nearby areas. (random, oasis to decide) -2 EP, -2 Pop

1 EP spent on army .

1 EP seeking trade to buy us water
