IOT Developmental Thread

Having a few yellow zones is a lot better than having 6 provinces. I approve.

Europe would get raped by any weapon above 4.

To be fair, the costs of creating a higher tier weapon are high. Realistically, the Soviets could create a first tier weapon right off the bat while smaller nations would take a few turns or work together.

And then there's anti-whatever-that-guy-has-defenses. For instance, say a player builds atomic bombs. The turn he builds atomic bombs, a player could research a new first-tier design that's mean to counter that weapon. However, only he would have access to the thing (unless he gives the designs to other players).

Diplomacy-wise, players are naturally going to want to counter another player's brand of atomic weapons but the problem is that a player could also just redesign their weapons. Plus, without the threat of mutual assured destruction, the chances of a war using the weapons increases. Not to mention that the defensive weapons are naturally going to be more expensive than the weapon they're countering.

And the last tiers of weapons have the highest cost of any weapon in any IOT I've seen but because it's possible to theoretically double your EPs every turn without even factoring in trade, someone should get the 10 billion mark to create the weapon that can nearly wipe all life out of a continent and beyond and there's almost no counter for a long time against one since you can only build a counter after the weapon has been designed.

Plus, since players can design weapons (provided they don't send me an incredibly stupid design), it's fully possible someone just use massed artillery to decimate a region.

Hey, guys, let's not go past III.

By the way, there's a huge jump between III and IV.

Yeah, but the cost is a big jump too.

Tier III
10,000 EPs to create

These weapons have the power to turn a zone red.

Tier IV
100,000 EPs to create

These weapons can turn a zone red AND the neighboring zones red plus two rings of orange zone and two rings of yellow.

I will be a communist Florida.

Dommy, youre a nut job ;) in the best way possible of course. Uh.. Since Duke Blackstone hasn't shown around this forum in the last few months could I take over DB Corporation?

While I was contemplating my navel, I had an idea.

An IOT spanning from just after WWI into the far future, with divergent tech paths and strategic and tactical options depending on your tech choices. Conventional C&C-style super-tanks and UAVs and railguns, biotech's zombies and genetically engineered creatures, Supreme Commander-esque nanotech's robots and field fabrication units, and Fallout-esque nuketech's nuclear artillery, nuclear battleships, nuclear-armed satellites . . . .

Rise And Fall Of Empires.

Expect a start in the fairly near future, unless people really would rather I wait, in which case I'm willing. It's going to have a large unit-list and take place on a non-earth map. It's also going to be more or less a player-driven IOT, with me there just to calculate battles, update da map and adjudicate disputes. People keep track of their own nation's stats and such.

Can you say Mammoth Tank vs. ACU vs. Tarrasque?

I look forward to creating an army of furries should I join.

And army of all-male furries that are capable of reproduction, ready to wage war on the female societies of the world...

Look it up, Domination. It's a perfectly valid phrase. :)

I'm not going to touch this with my ten-foot !!SCIENCE!! pole.
