like if i control turkey and cyprus, can i fully modernize myself and reach 120 million in say... 15 turns? am i allowed to have a 3.5 million man army in an emergency? (they would just be reserves in non emergencies)

and by the way i meant that i grow to 120 million mostly by immigration.
 
If you're trebling your population in 15 years via immigration, your original ethnic stock has rather vanished!

I'm drafting up a combat system based on ideas presented here. I'll post it here sometime later today or tomorrow.

That depends on how long a turn is.

And immigration means they have to come from somewhere, so other countries lose population. You'll need an incentive or something for people to immigrate there or it'd be game-breaking (everyone can just say their population increased).

Also, massive immigration during a short period of time tends to be destabilizing. You'll need jobs for all your immigrants, and there's also the risk of social conflict (I imagine you'd want to replace all the infidels in Turkey with good Byzantine Christians. Prepare yourself for civil war. :mischief:)

3.5 million men in an emergency is reasonable - only in an emergency though, I'm talking WWII-esque total war scenarios, or if the country is really at risk of being conquered.

Hmm Alright, What about..You can't Expand when you're at war..
Or The Wars would never end, as if the losing nation is almost dead they could just keep expanding making their impending doom farther off?

Just a question - are we really interested in a medieval or renaissance start or do we want to go with traditional IOT (modern age)? It'd make a lot of difference when it comes to making rules for trade, economy and combat.

Personally, I think a medieval game's a nice twist, so I wouldn't mind that.
 
I'm really interested in a mediaeval or Renaissance start. Hell, I'd settle for a Classical game (Ancient Mediterranean or Imperial Rome) too.
