Neutral

Yay

-Athenian Democracy, i.e. players vote to kick people

Nay

-Lands of people who quit are made into neutral NPC

Yay

  • Establish an IOT "etiquette"
    I feel this is necessary.
  • A summary section with each update
This promotes order and less chaos. Yes.
  • Athenian Democracy, i.e. players vote to kick people
No. If a player is acting badly the GM can kick them. This idea promotes abusive bandwagons.
  • Lands of people who quit are made into neutral NPC
Yes and no. I feel when players quit they should have the choice of distributing their land among their neighbors or making their land into an NPC.

I'll vote for 1, 2 & 4. Only the GM should be able to kick people.

Can we give more ideas after the voting phase? I'm drafting something...

Well, sure, we're always open to more ideas. It's just that I didn't want this to drag on too long, and I needed to cut it off somewhere before the ideas list became too big.

On another note.

Also, IOT community, please realize you can debate these ideas, they're not set in stone. For example, I think the first one is kinda vague, you guys can define what the etiquette is and or will be before voting. In fact, I was kinda relaying upon this debate, because a lot of these ideas need to be debated (also so the GM for the next game doesn't need to draft up an entire etiquette thing).

For the etiquette, I say just don't talk about anything not relating to the game in the thread. I don't really think anymore is needed.

-Establish an IOT "etiquette"
I don't care

Sure

-Athenian Democracy, i.e. players vote to kick people
OH GOD YES.

-Lands of people who quit are made into neutral NPC
Sure why not. Then you gots to earn them!

My suggestions for etiquette:

1. Do not flame, troll, or personally insult any other player OOC or IC. At all. You may comment on certain things negatively, but don't take it further than that.
2. Stay on topic. Make sure all comments are relevant to the fictional world of the current IOT and have nothing to do with your personal religious/political beliefs.
3. No powergaming. By definition, powergaming is making your country surpass every other country by all terms including armed forces, technology, etc. There was a problem with this in IOT I, but other than that I'm not sure there's been a problem with that.
4. Keep your actions realistic, and don't declare war on someone for a personal reason.

That's all I have so far, may add more later.

yeah some countries WILL surpass others, thus making the issue of power gaming moot.

Yes. Stop the flamming, please. (However, that doesn't mean I won't stop hunting Math down if he becomes Byzantium yet again. :p)

DEAR GOD YES!
-Athenian Democracy, i.e. players vote to kick people
No. I can see this being abused big time, as the "popular" people will kick out the "unpopular" people just for being "unpopular". Leave the social structure at school, please.
-Lands of people who quit are made into neutral NPC
Yes.

I know it's too late for suggestions, but I really want to urge, after we're done voting, to draft up a constitution outlaying the powers and responsibilities of both the GM and the players.

im pretty sure even that isn't allowed. and you would attack me if i started out as Vatican...

That's not a bad idea. Bring it up again once the voting phase is done.

That's what I was going to suggest too. Can we also have a rule that Omega does not attack Mathalamus simply because they're Omega and Mathalamus?

I vote yay to all 3.

I'd also like to point out that the option to vote players out would be a confidential vote, so bandwagon and peer pressure would not be that important.

I know it's too late for more suggestions, but I would like to raise one issue. When will NPCs be established. I don't think they should be started for several rounds, but I just wanted to make sure.

It really depends on how the players will claim territories.
