IOT Developmental Thread

My suggestions for etiquette:

1. Do not flame, troll, or personally insult any other player OOC or IC. At all. You may comment on certain things negatively, but don't take it further than that.
2. Stay on topic. Make sure all comments are relevant to the fictional world of the current IOT and have nothing to do with your personal religious/political beliefs.
3. No powergaming. By definition, powergaming is making your country surpass every other country by all terms including armed forces, technology, etc. There was a problem with this in IOT I, but other than that I'm not sure there's been a problem with that.
4. Keep your actions realistic, and don't declare war on someone for a personal reason.

That's all I have so far, may add more later.

Yes, we all know how well you two go along.

I'm proposing something now:

  • Omega risks being banned from the game until he stops singling Math out for no damn reason, it's really freaking annoying by now. This can also be extended for anyone else singling anyone out for bad reasons to no reason at all.

Agreed. That should be IOT Etiquette.

oh can i propose two things?

1. an NPC cannot handle diplomacy, its just a minor state with flavors.

2. a country cannot ever bypass an area. for example , south Korea lost the battle at Peloponnese, and somehow manage to attack Constantinople and Crimea. (and lost both)

I think they should be able to invade anywhere they want... but if they can't get to it with their navy, they don't GET their navy.

Thus, if they want to get into the Black Sea, they either have to claim part of it, or go through you. And also the rest of the Med.

Aaaaaaaaand voting is up! Here are the tally's!

-An IOT Sub-forum IIIIIIIIII
-NO RL politics IIIIIIIIIIII/0
-Limit posts to only 3-5 every 24 hours II/0000000000
-Countries who have been "defeated" can come back, but with a different personality IIIIIII/000000
-Scratch the post limit and instead "flag" spammy posts for the mods to take care of IIIIIIIIIII/00

Alright, so the only one to get booted is the post limiting one. All the others will stay (except for well, the first one, which was just kinda in for the sake of being in, since the decision is not in our hands ;)).

Voting: Round 3
-Limiting number of battles
-Players can take a "vacation" from IOT and come back with their empires intact, in the mean time they will turn into NPC
-Delegate menial GM tasks among players, such as Cartographer (updates the maps), Battle Officer (keeps tabs on attacks. If has the right tools can also process the rolls), etc.

Today it's going to be rather short and sweet, because tomorrow, we'll deal with all the war stuff at once. So prepare yourself for a lot of yay's and nay's.

Limiting number of battles

Yeah, but what if some player attacks your NPC'd empire while your gone?

Delegate menial GM tasks among players, such as Cartographer (updates the maps), Battle Officer (keeps tabs on attacks. If has the right tools can also process the rolls), etc.

Yeah

I'm happy to minimise battles as much as possible. I'm also happy to have temporary NPCs, but as ZD asks, what if someone attacks you whilst an NPC? By all means delegate GM tasks to willing players, provided that they won't abuse this power.

-Limiting number of battles

Yes. However, the limit should be "x number of battles against any opponent" instead of the system under IOT 4 which is "x number of battles against one opponent". This allow more flexible deployment of forces, and at the same time preventing people from declaring war on too many nations.
