I was actually thinking of doing the Iroquois before you guys started discussing this. So I say that the American nations should be given equal rights.
NO!
The population of Europe in 1500 was
75 Million
The population of Asia in 1500 was
280 Million
The population of America (north and south) in 1500 was
4 million
There is no way a country in America could take on a European power. Thats why we (the Europeans) colonized the world.
You guys don't understand that not one of the IOT games has shown true to history. Why should this one? Because it's set in a different date? That makes no sense.
The difference between this one and the others was this is right before tech trading between the hemispheres began. There was a distinct difference between the muskets and pikes wielded by the Europeans and the bows and clubs wielded by the native Americans. That is why the time period changes everything
Once again, history should be nullified in all games. I'm not denying that's the technology the natives had- but IOT is a 'what if' game and NO pre-defined country outlines should exist at all.
ilduce, you were in the middle of Africa the last game and you were just as advanced (more so due to your powergaming) than everyone else on the planet. Your point is invalid.

I think for Role-playing purposes, they should have less tech, for instance, no gunpowder. However, for actual purposes, such as battles, they should have just as much chance to win.
Or, maybe start with more land to make up for less tech. Or bigger armies but Medieval.
I think they should be equal, but not necessarily identical.
You where one of the one against me creating a country in Africa due to the lack of development there. You have no right to suddenly change your opinion because of that.
IOT is a what if game, but America could not have been technologically advanced as Europe or Asia no matter what, its impossible.

you voiced your opinion against me and my country. You can't take it back now that it will hurt you. I will not be joining this game if the aboriginals are as strong as the Asians and Europeans
Yes it can, this game shouldn't have limited parameters and tech levels for certain areas. I don't want to be disadvantaged just because I'm a Brazilian patriot.

The other IOT games haven't had history because they have been in the future. If we're going to have this one based in the 1400's, then I don't see that it would be appropriate to try and have technology that didn't exist for 100's of years. I think that if we're going to do a historically starting game, then we should be realistic enough that the Indian nations aren't as advanced or more advanced than the rest of the world.
I think we're starting the game signifigantly earlier than 1500. Actually, now that you mention it, what date are we starting. It was something really obscure like 1423, right?

THat's why I wanted it to be modern. If you don't want to be slowed, then you don't have to be Brazil, but I'm arguing that it doesn't make sense to have Brazil as a country in the 1400's. If you wanted to start in Europe and colonize Brazil, I wouldn't care, but I think it ruins the point of saying that we're starting in the 1400's if we're going to have modern nations in the Americas before most people even knew the continent was there.
