IOT Enlightenment 2: Philosophers and Kings

Offering white peace to Keme.

Orders incoming.

From China
To Japan:

We shall protect.

From China
To Japan:

If you know what is good for you, accept only China's protection.

From China
To Japan:

If you accept Cape's offer, we shall give you hell.

From China
To Cape:

East Asia is an area under the protection of China. We warn you that we have a military alliance with Australia and that we are friends with Dene. So back down.

We of the Cape Republic have a super ecomony via industry and are keen to exploit said industry for our purposes. Are you a coward by trying to invoke your allies? Aggression is only reason you would dare stand against reason. Plato's word is supream.

Japan will ecomonically benefit from Cape protection if it accepts.

Overall let Japan decide in the end. What ever the case we will not back down and our land will be hard for you to take since our industry is grand.

They have already decided:

I am nit going to expand. Peaceful buildup for me.

IC: Would the Chinese or Australians accept a request for protection? We would apprecciate it. We will give you our military aid in return.

They have already decided:

That was before we showed interest.

Anyrate we would best for us to commence joint protection of Japan. That way we can both benefit and ensure that we are not exploiting Japan for our purposes. If Japan wants a solo protecter then let it declare to the Cape whom is offering Japan financial aid that will order durning the next year, for we this year have set ourselves onto enchancing our industries for our purposes. We are the Cape Republic. We are the way to the perfect society. Heed us and learn.

We call you to accept our protection, since Japan and China have always been friends.
I thought it was an assumed acceptance, because I offered it to you...

How do we know? For all we know you could have made that up. It is not hard to fake a message at times.

Let Japan publicly declare. Japan will benefit from Cape protection. Let us give Japan the chance to choose the Cape or China. You are not Japan, China. If you claim to speak for Japan... then the Cape's desire to defend Japan from aggression is more justified. Tyrants do not bold well with the Cape.

From China
To Cape:

You are nothing more than arrogant bastards. Japan has already declared it's wish!

I'm afraid that we of Japan did not notice the request from the cape republic.

I have a question. Why can we not be protected by both of you? It protects us better, and stops an easy annexation. If China so wishes, I will accept their offer, but I beg the Chinese to keep our best interests in mind.

The Cape Republic agrees with Japan. We will offer you protection and in the next year will organise plans to aid you ecomonically.

We will only accept dual protection if China's protection is a priority and if a war erupts between China dn Cape, Japan will take Chinese side.

Negative! Such a conflic would be the choice of Japan! Hence they should ideally remain neutral if such conflict occured!

This deal must be 50:50 or the Cape will eye China with spite.

We will ensure to protect Japan financially.

To kick the year off: a failed coup in the CSA, though it is currently unknown who or why. Hindustan quickly seizes Ceylon and Indochina, taking minimal casualties. China storms over North Korea similarly. Poland-Lithuania retakes its homeland without a fight.

A massive Romanian offensive going west towards Norway slams into a massive Norskandian offensive going east - the battle isn't pretty as two forces of five Regulars clash, matched on the Romanian side with a General and two Irregulars. At the end, the Norskandians are crushed - Norway falls and Norskandia is destroyed, all her spies disbanding before they can execute any orders they might or might not have had. Romania loses two Regulars and an Irregular.

Romania launches a truly massive attack into Anatolia against the entire Keme army. The cannons rage and battle is joined, but in a stunning move the Romanian Irregulars slip around behind the Kemeian lines and cut off their retreat, then capture the Keme artillery and proceed to unleash a butt-whooping. The Keme army surrenders . . . . all of it. Romania loses 5 Regulars and their General, but Keme loses 9 Regulars, 8 Irregulars and one General.

Five Irregulars rise up in Alaska, proclaiming loyalty to New Wales! The Dene put down the rebellion easily, but lose two Irregulars in the doing, and the fighting destroys one unit of industry in Alaska. On the heels of this, the New Welsh launch a massive offensive into the Great Plains, ten Regulars storming toward the Iberian positions. They find themselves face to face with eighteen Regulars and a General. The defeat is even more conclusive than the one the Keme faced in Anatolia - ten New Welsh Regulars are chewed up and utterly destroyed at the cost of one Iberian Regular.

The Celtic Fleet fans out, sending a Privateer each to the North Sea, Barents Sea and Bay of Biscay, blockading the Merchant Republic and Romania. The joint Romanian-Republic fleet in the Black Sea elects to argue the point with the Celts, and sallies through the newly-recaptured Bosporus. Nine Allied Ships of the Line and four Privateers attack four Celtic Ships of the Line and one Admiral. The Allies win, destroying or capturing and selling all four Celtic ships and shooting their admiral, at the price of one Ship of the Line each from Romania and the Merchant Republic, plus an Italian Privateer. The Italian navy no longer exists, but the Mediterranean is clear of Celtic elements. The Romanians, however, intend to "go out in a blaze of glory" and push into the Atlantic, where they face an impromptu coalition of Keme and Celtic naval elements. One Celtic privateer and five Keme Ships of the Line face off against seven Romanian Ships of the Line and three Privateers. Only a single Keme Ship of the Line gets away to the north, but two Romanian Ships of the Line and a Privateer are burned. The Romanians think for a minute about stopping, but decide that ceasing the buttwhooping is for Celtics, which reminds them of their next destination: the North Sea, versus the surviving Keme Ship of the Line and one each Ship of the Line and Privateer for the Celtics, with five surviving Romanian Ships of the Line and two Privateers to show for it. The Romanians lose a Ship of the Line and a Privateer before the Celts and Keme withdraw to the Barents Sea. The Romanians pursue with four Ships of the Line against one and two Privateers on the Celtic side, assisted by the irritatingly resilient Keme Ship of the Line. The impromptu coalition holds and forces the Romanians back, sinking three Ships of the Line at the cost of both of their own.

In a surprising move(Some would say sinister), the CSA has launched an assault upon the New Welsh fleet in the Caribbean, beginning landings in the Antilles and Cuba as it does. They have declared the Caribbean to be their own sphere, and anyone who disagrees can take a hike. Unfortunately for them, the New Welsh squadron of three Ships of the Line manages to fight off ten Ships of the Line, two Privateers and an Admiral when the Confederates come knocking, sinking three Ships of the Line and a Privateer to no losses. The CSN withdraws sullenly into the Gulf of Mexico, abandoning its amphibious attacks and firing officers on an unheard of scale. Their government quickly states it has no desire for a land war with New Wales, but the Caribbean is sovereign Confederate territory.

The Free European Republic assaults the Low Countries with thirteen Irregulars, against four Italian Regulars. The Italians hold and annihilate the Free Republic attack to no losses. Six Italian Regulars, one Irregular and a General invade Northern France against twenty-nine Celtic Regulars and a General! The Celtic General is shot, but the entire Italian force is destroyed.

As always, feel free to point out any errors.
