Kicking off the year with a BANG comes a fleet of twenty-five Ships of the Line from the Cape Republic, led by their greatest and only admiral. Opposing them? Fifteen Ships of the Line, one Admiral and one Privateer from the CSN. The lines form up and cannons are run out - who's going to win? The Cape Republic, in the most one-sided naval victory in the history of the world, wipes out the entire Confederate Navy at the loss of only one Ship of the Line. The CSA, mortally wounded, now braces for invasion.
The Cape invades Texas, but loses nine Regulars despite massively outnumbering the Confederate Army. Texas holds, but seven Confederate Regulars and their general are slain in the fighting. The New Welsh invasion of Virginia, on the other hand, loses only one Regular and obliterates the entire defending Confederate force. Dixie falls with no New Welsh losses.
Rebellion sparks in Portugal! Five Irregulars rise up against the New Welsh occupiers in the name of the Iberian Crown! The New Welsh dispatch troops to counter, but there's a problem - Iberian forces have attacked five other points in New Welsh territory, and half the army is tied up in the CSA! The New Welsh redeploy as best they can, but they're now divided badly . . . any everyone knows what happens after you divide your foe.
New Wales holds on without loss in the Antilles, Cuba and the Bahamas, but the Portuguese rebellion is successful, losing two Irregulars and costing New Wales one Regular. Portugal officially becomes part of the Iberian Kingdom. Iberia launches massive assaults up and down the line against the New Welsh troops - The Midwest falls with one Iberian loss and three New Welsh, and Ontario falls for two Iberian and three New Welsh Regulars in casualties. A lightning diversionary attack into Cascadia is crushed easily by the defenders - but a larger Iberian drive on Alaska goes through. The Dene somehow hold, losing five Regulars and an Irregular but killing eight Regulars in defense of their most valuable province. Whether Alaska will be Iberia's Stalingrad remains to be seen.
The FER, under its new leadership, has launched a massive invasion of Romania-Yugoslavia. A diversionary thrust into Denmark is easily repelled, as is a strike on Poland. With no casualties to either side, the Eastern Balkans have fallen to Free European Republic troops, but the West Balkans cost Romania-Yugoslavia two and the FER one Regular. A note has arrived in the temporary Romano-Yugoslavian capital in Moscow demanding in the most vulgar, obscene and insulting ways imaginable that the Romanians surrender to the FER unless they want to be wiped from the planet and all their women raped and killed. This note has also been distributed among the populace of the FER's new territorial gains. It remains to be seen how the Romano-Yugoslavians will react - half their army was away claiming Novosibirsk without a single casualty.
Five Irregulars take up arms in Central India, proclaiming their fealty to the Chinese Empire, which invades Indochina and Delhi at the same time. General Abbaluk focuses his Regulars on putting down the uprisings in Central India - an endeavor he succeeds at completely, destroying all the rebels to no losses. Delhi and Indochina fall.
