Her Majesty Salvbara Queen of the Dene regarding with Her Royal Favor the Norskandian nation and anxious to establish trade relations – Her Majesty therefore being desirous to establish a:

Convention For Regulating the Admission Of Denean Ships Into The Ports of Norskandia.
It is agreed between the Dene, and the representatives, ordered by His Imperial highness the Emperor of Norskandia to act herein, that:-

1st
All ports shall be open to Denian ships for the purposes of trade, as well as effecting repairs, and obtaining fresh water, provisions, and other supplies of any sort they may absolutely want for the use of the ships.

2nd
This Convention shall be ratified, and the ratifications shall be exchanged at the Norskandian capital on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen of the Dene, and on behalf of His Highness the Emperor of Norskandia, within twelve months from the present date.

OOC: And that makes trade treaty number 13. :D

@Bugwar-

It's quite simple. I first determine the STR of each faction. In your example, 3-3. I then set up an RNG with the total(6. If the number is in the first player's camp, in this case 1-3, they win. Otherwise, the enemy wins. The victor can destroy up to 100% of his STARTING STR in enemy units, and the defender can destroy up to 50% of his STARTING STR in enemies.

Thus, let's see. 3 Irregulars vs 3 Irregulars. 1-3 is attacker win, 4-6 is defender win.

5. Defender wins. Since I round up, the attacker has an RNG of 0-2 on how many of the defender's troops are killed, whereas the defender has 0-3.

1 and 2. The loser withdraws one Irregular and the winner 2.

That clear it up? 12 STR would give you a minimum of 2/3s chance of victory against NPCs, probably higher. For 75%, 16.

Thanks for the explanation on how combat works. A follow up question if I may.

As I understand it, if I sent one irregular attacker in and faced three irregular defenders, the STR would be 1-3.
The RNG total would be four.
On a d4 result of ‘1’, the attacker would win, while any other result would be a defender victory.
If the attacker managed to win, then the attacker in this case could destroy from 0-1 of the enemy, while the losing defenders would have a chance of slaughtering 0-2 attackers.

Assume for grins and giggles that the attacker killed nothing, while the defender only caused one attacker to die.
Therefore, the attacker (who won the battle) would have no units left, while the loser would have their entire starting force remaining.
The question is does the province convert to the attacker, who we presumed lived long enough to accept his enemies surrender before expiring from his battle wounds?

Global News

Springtime of Nations. Across the world, nations are forming following the catastrophic collapse which left the world reeling for stability. These nations range from the maritime Iron Islanders of Sumatra, to Romania-Yugoslavia of Europe, to all points in between in all cardinal directions. Only time will tell what the result of this wellspring of nationalism will be.

All the Lines on the Map is Trade. With the reestablishment of stability across many parts of the world, trade routes old and new are reforming. Merchants travel through the Suez, under the capes, through the Mediterranean, and through free waters once more. The growing prominence of merchants coincides with the growing important of trade. Isolationist nations stand very little chance in the face of this form of globalization.

North America

Dene? Dene formed after the intial Springtime of Nations, but it is making up for this by aggressively signing trade agreements with nations the world over. These trade agreements usually come with stipulations regarding ports, routes, and provisions. What this unique nation has to offer is bound to be apparent in the coming years.

Europe

hotpink.png

The European Question. Europe has seen the greatest resurgence in nationalism than any other part of the globe, which may result in growing pains. The recent recollapse of the Russian power leaves northeastern Russia open to Polish, Nordic, and settlers from the Romano-Yugoslavian Empire. Italy controls southern Europe with an iron grip. The Celtic Union rules Scotland, Ireland, and northern France. Their territorial holding in Gaul is wedged between Iberian Netherlands and Iberia proper. Europe may prove to be a powderkeg yet, but it is too early to tell.

The Far East and Pacific

Iron Islands Rejects Non-Aggression Pacts, Accepts Spheres of Influence. Jakarta, Iron Islands. The Iron Islands unceremoniously rejected the non-aggression treaties put forward by the Australian Empire and Hindustan, citing aversion. Despite this, the Iron Islands has lent public approval to the establishment of spheres of influences. In other news, the Iron Islands rebuked Spanish claims of influence in the Pacific, citing Iberia's inability to project power anywhere beyond the Atlantic or Mediterranean.

China Rejects Republic. Beijing, Chinese Empire. In a strange turn of events, a gift from the South American Cape Empire was burned by the Chinese royal family due to subversive undertones in the writing. This appears to have been more of a misunderstanding than anything else, as the Cape sent another copy out of good will, which China accepted.

Was that the update? Or did you just make that, Sonreal? Either way, it was really good.

These are the claims of the MR of Italia. The European claims are non-nogotiable, except for the northern areas. the African claims are a bit more flexible, but we do need the westernmost ones.

The ones in gray are the claims.

Guys, send in your orders! I want an update soon.:trouble:

Ideally, Keme would prefer that no Peoples of the Sea hold dominion over land in Africa. However, we realize the unlikelihood of truly free Africa, so we shall tolerate foreign settling in the fringes. However, the settling into Libue (Libya), with whom the Remenkemi closely ties, we shall not accept. The settling into the Western Desert also concerns the Remenkemi, and we shall object, although with a smaller voice than that of Libue.

OOC: Didn't know if he was co-GM or something.

IC:Due to concerns raised, Libya will not be claimed. All other claims remain.

Notable events:

Iron Islands Blockade of Australia!

In a stunning move, the Iron Islands have blockaded Australia's single major trade lane. Certainly attempts will be made to circumvent their small naval squadron, but it is strategically positioned at a bottleneck in the major shipping lanes. A concerted naval effort may be required to dig it out, and Australia has nowhere near the industry the Iron Islands now posses.

China invades Mongolia!

Two regiments of Chinese irregulars swarm across the Mongolian border, outnumbering their enemies 2 to 1. Will the Mongolians hold?

No. Mongolia is annihilated without inflicting a SINGLE casualty. So much for KHAAAAAAAAN's legacy.

Cape Republic flawlessly colonizes Brazil. Norskandia flawlessly colonizes Karelia. Poland-Lithuania fails HARD to colonize Brandenburg, but doesn't lose a unit. Hindustan flawlessly colonizes Central India. New Wales flawlessly colonizes Ontario. Romania-Yugoslavia flawlessly colonizes Anatolia.

A popular uprising has swept through Southern France. Consisting of 2 Irregulars, this force runs headlong into a single regiment of Regulars deployed swiftly in response to the upheaval. Who will prevail?

In a CRUSHING defeat, the entire rebellion is destroyed without any major casualties by the Celtic authorities. It's unclear whether foreign agents were involved in the attack or not, but regardless the so-called "French Republic" was short-lived indeed.

Random Events:

Requests for Protectorate Status:
-Poland-Lithuania TO United Kingdom of Iberia
Declarations of Hostility:
-Poland-Lithuania TO Norskandia, Italia, Romano-Yugoslavia, Celtic Union

No other events, shockingly enough. YOUR REPRIEVE WILL NOT LAST.

Let the turn two shindig begin.

Note: Spies are not publicly listed. If I don't send you any PMs and you notice espionage missions of yours mentioned in the update, you haven't lost even one spy.

Now. On with the game.

If you notice any errors, please notify me. Also, the trade lines were a real female dog to draw, so I expect a lot of errors.

-L

Okay, ALMOST there. The trade lines have been a . . . . FEMALE DOG, but I'm getting there.

-L

Um, if trade routes require a connected series of sea zones, I just put a little circle in each sea zone running between the player country and the partner.
The circle was the color of the host country. Tedious, yes. A ‘female dog’... I am not so sure of.

The headache I would see would be in cataloging all the ‘auto accepts’ orders from players. Other than making the players publish a list of trading partners (which has to be verified anyway), I see the most time being spent in building the list of trades. I guess a 13x13 table would be the best way.

The map for just my country would look something like:
Spoiler :

While not required, the GM might want to redo the trade route between New Wales and the Dene nations to a polar path. Saves a lot on congestion, as shown below:

Spoiler :

To: Dene, Hindustan, Cape Empire
From: The Iron Islands

The Iron Islands extends a warm hand of friendship to our Pacific neighbors and wishes to sign bilateral mutual defensive pacts with the each of you. These are bilateral and are not asking for a gigantic web of pacts.

To: Australia
From: The Iron Islands

We have implemented a pre-emptive blockade under the pretense of security. We had reason to believe that the Australian Empire, with their secretive orders, may have been planning aggressive military action against the Iron Islands. This early, we believe this necessitated an early, immediate response. The Iron Islands is open to hammering out a peace agreement.
