Nation name:
Mississippi River Occupants
Government:
Parliamental Republic
Layers of Government
The Government is divided is several layers.
The lowest layers are the Counties and the Water boards
Above these governments there are States-Provincial. Above the Sates-Provincial you can find the Senate. The highest layer of government is Parliament and the Cabinet.
The head of state is the Presidents but the actual power lies with the Cabinet
Parties and Elections
current parties
Democrats ’36 – Social-Liberal
Party for Mississippian Freedom – Right wing Populistic
Social Mississippi – Left wing, almost Communistic
Mississippi Labour Party – Left wing, Socialists
Party for American Values – Unaligned. Democrats and Republicans who want to go back to the political system from before the revolution
River Development Party – Right wing, Liberals
There is a plural party system and everybody has a right to form their own political party no matter the age. However before a party can enter in any elections it needs signatures from 5% of the population with the right to vote(18+) in these elecions. Meaning for the National elections a party needs 5% of the total population with the right to vote and for the States-Provincial 5% of that population within the province.
Every 4 year there are the national elections for Parliament. The winner of the elections is the party with the most votes. This party can form the cabinet, however without a majority within parliament a cabinet is powerless. Cabinets, therefor, will almost always consist of coalition of 2, 3 or more parties.
Every other 4 years (there are 2 years in between) elections are held for the State-Provincial. This goes with the same principel as the national elections. The winner gets to try and form a cabinet.
That same year all the State-Provincial elect the Senate.
A year after the national elections the county elections are being held. Just as the State-Provincial and Parliament the winner is first to try and form a cabinet or College Mayor and Aldermen.
A year before the National elections the people can vote for the Waterboards and again the winner can form a cabinet or Heemraad.
Tasks of the Governments
The President
The President is the head of state. His job is mostly ceremonial but still approves the laws. But the real power lies with the Cabinet

Parliament
Control the Cabinet. Can approve and dissapprove proposed laws and have the right to propose laws.
Senate
When the Parliament has approved it goes to the Senate who also has to approve it.
States-Provincial
The States-Provincial are basicly the parliaments of the provinces. They coördinate among other things the Health-care, Spatial planning and Public transportation of the province. However they have to act between the lines set by the Cabinet.

Economy:
Welfare state with Free Market
agriculture
Thanks to the Mississippi the lands of the MRO are very fertile. This is noticeable when looking at the economic activity of the MRO. 40% of the nations Gross Domestic Product comes from agriculture.
The farms produce mainly Corn, Soybeans, Sorghum and Oats.
To the south people can find Cotton plantation as well as a starting Wineproduction.
In the north of the MRO there are ranges who keep cattle and poultry. These ranges produce eggs, dairy produce and meat (mainly beef and pork)
Industry
The industry of the MRO is almost in complete synergy with the agricultural activities of the nation.
The industry can be divided in three parts. The first part is about processing the agricultural products.
Corn, Oats and Sorghum are processed into Ethanol for fuel. Agricultural products are also turned into Processed Food and Beer.
The second part is about improving the agriculture of the MRO.
Spread over the nations their are numerous chemical plants who produce Agricultural Chemicals. There is also a industry who fabricate Metal Products. These products vary from the blades of harvesters to casings for ships and trucks. Theses casings are used by the Transportation Equipment factories.
The third part is about raw materials.
There are several places within the MRO were primary metals can be mined. These metals are in low quantities and are used by national industry only.
Trade Policy:
Free trade with minor protectionism
Reason for revolt:
The people of the Mississippi were basiccally a nation without a state, split up into smaller factions by borders drawn by rulers who didn't know or care about their culture.
They have always felt kinship to eachother. Even when they were divided during the Civil War a Mississippian could always count on the help of an other Mississippian. If you got captured by the enemy and you found a fellow Mississippian the other would ensure good treatment, better food and a better live as a prisoner.
When the Second American Revolution started the Mississippian thought it was time for selfrule. Too long they had to cope with rulers who didn't understand them. It was time for the nation of the Mississippi River Occupants to form their own state and govern themselves.
Trait:
Mississippi Livelihood
How about an extra EP for every two territories on the MR, and bonus EP for exporting farmed goods?
