The tunnels have been surrounded, and the Weat African one is being dealt with. Incidentally, the Targaryen Empire has withdrawn to Tunisia. Dragon-strikes have turned land into wastelands which have been promptly reclaimes by Scrapland in Scandinavia, whereas resettlement is going on in France and Spain.

Good news: Through indiscriminately chucking nuclear weapons down the tunnel Scrapland manages to prevent Silurian incursions into West Africa.
Bad news: The nukes rupture the mantle sending rivers of fiery, orange death across the continent.
Good news: The lava creates new land off the western coast.
Bad news: The new land is made of fiery, orange death.

Thanks to the world leadership of Greater Scrapland in the production of frozen products and fridges, the new Lands of Lava are being cooled down to become inhabitable!
We're also closing on the Central African tunnel and, thanks to the world's greatest engineering project, the Hot Tub Canal, the West African tunnel has been flooded with water from the Red Sea, turning it into the World's Biggest Hot Tub, since water comes heated by lava at the bottom of the pit.
