The Charrat commander was seated at the head of the table, alone in the meeting room. He was poring over three-dimensional projections of the ship's interior prepared by the technicians, detailing the extent of the damage and the condition of its various modules. Fortunately, interior damage was minimal and all vital systems had survived intact, and preliminary bioscans suggested they could forage the local ecology if necessary. If they could dig the ship out of the crash site, they might just be able to get it airborne, but the engines were too heavily damaged to attempt even low orbital excursions. They were stuck planetside for the foreseeable future.

"Shaar-tei," interrupted an orderly, and he collapsed the model. "Asa's team is almost finished analyzing the neuroscans. They have examined 827 individuals from across the region, and Asa believes they have provided enough common accounts to construct a viable knowledge bank."

"What has he concluded so far?"

"The organisms that have formed the civilized communities appear to be the planet's dominant life-form. The memories we have been able to map suggest the species allows for numerous physiological variations, and even the populations we have sampled demonstrate considerable individual differences."

"So, what happened to them?" He thought back to the initial encounter, the rag-tag resistance. "They are evidently technologically advanced, yet their attempt at repulsing us was pitiful."

"The team is still trying to piece that together. It seems as though the planet fell victim to some sort of outside invasion; whatever military force they had was effectively annihilated."

"The origin of the signal?"

"We suspect so. Most of the information remains encoded in the species' language, which has been difficult to decipher. This region alone plays host to dozens of different dialects; it could take years before we can understand them. There is one word common in the accounts: someone or something called Zo-ness appears to have orchestrated the attack, and continues to communicate with the race in blanket statements."

"Zo-ness?" he repeated, pensive. For some reason that name seemed familiar. High command might have information, but he was completely cut off from those databanks. "Well, we'll deal with it as it comes. Tell Asa to report to me once he's finished the analysis."

"Shaar-tei," the orderly bowed, and left the room.

Military: all males and females are conscripted at age 18, for 6 years. Given Professional Training. Current consricptable pop: 7 million souls. 500,000 currently in force. Due to policy implemented during the founding wars of the republic, all citizens keep their service rifles. while those not in the orginal republic have not yet had time to go through this, service rifles were handed out, and all people age 18 to 50 trained to us them. Theirfor, 9 million combatants can rise up in face of a attack. Another 2 million can be involved in absolute emergencies, though this would be dangerous, as it mean the entire republic would be fighting.

Gaian Rises: 90%...the part head is still figuring out why this occurred. Current assessment is its goals in the long run. The rebirth and rise of Gaia.
military party: 6% incumbent party.

Imperial Party: guess what they support. 3 tries, first two don't count. it wishes to protect our trade through owning as much as possible. Never has held more than 30% of votes. Usually, a new Party takes those votes away, so this happened one time only. It was hell on the floor during that time. They have since then only held 1% of votes since then. Those are the core diehard supporters...

Merchantilism Party: a party devoted to protecting Venetian trade usually held about 30% of vote. They varied on average about 2% in a election from this. It was a massive surprise Theirfor when they got 3% of the votes, to everyone.

Military Party: supports military governance, into order to protect our trade. Often butted heads with the Imperial Party. merchantilism party usually sides with these guys. Their is as a result quite the military presence in the government, and the reason for the military structure being what it was. They got power for the reason of the founding wars. The founding wars, having nearly resulted in the destruction of the republic, had the republic formed that is...it's called the founding wars because it predates the republic, and even predates XONES' invasion of Gaia. Northern Italy had faced severe unrest for some time, and when the government declared martial law, just about every region of Italy the Republic owns now declared independence, but not as one. The rest of northern Italy splintered into anarchy. By the time they contaminated to stop the anarchy, south Italy was getting upset. We do not know what happened next, as our infighting between the new city states was making it difficult to know, and Italy had become a military dictatorship. We do know this: XONES invaded a year later. For some reason we were ignored, as long as we did not venture out of those 10 regions we started with today. Those forces that did, ended up getting destroyed, but that was it. I guess our infighting was too confusing and as probably the most effective way of insuring we couldn't fight him. Venice won for the same reason it was powerful in the past: It was a Island. As a island, all we needed was a strong air force, and a strong navy, at least for a city state. Venice itself never fell. The other states might have at times ended up completely trading territory dozens of time, attempting to retake their home city, but we stayed in control of ours. Slowly, over decades, we solidified our nation. 40% of votes were gained on average. Do to alliance with merchantilism party, they had the power to control the floor. Then came the congress of hell. After this, you could find up to 40 parties each election trying to get votes. During this politically confusing period, they got 70% of votes, while the merchantilism got 29%. Those not of these did not get noticeable percents.

Gaian Rises: The new power. Supports the GED. Uncertain on UN. Supports the notion of that humanity is currently in a dark age. It wishes to see humanity rise to greater heights then ever before. XONES has conquered GAIA, but GAIA will not submit. We will subvert XONES in all ways possible.(OOC: XONES...you are very horrible at your job. Mere fact stuff like this has been said is impressive. I know that your being GM is why though.)
GAIA REBORN! GAIA RISES! (motto of the party) It views the best way to defend our trade is to be part of GED. It views the best way to defend the nation is to also be part of GED. The reason they took power was the appeal of their goal. Their arch goal isnt to defend trade, but to Ultamitely turn humanity into a star-faring race that will never fall into the fact we now face again, nor inflict said fate on a species. Ambitious, yes. It's still invigors the people with hope. They support the current military structure. They get slaughtered(I.e. the public held a convention just to amend the consitution to make it our military structure) for removing it (surprising, despite willingness to trade, Venice is military wise paranoid. Justifiably, for the rebellion in southern Germany, uncertainty on Da Boot's intentions, The mistrust of the UN, which so far has not done much to impress our people of it supporting it's goals, so far only appearing to be imperialistic, mixed messages from macadonia, of which it has been made apparent though they truly care for peace, thankfully.(occ:I'm not joking. The mixed messages received through all channels suggest this) In Fact, Macadonia( despite diplomatic head butting, our public has been convinced of their loyalty to peace), The German Empire, Zulu, Britian, and SUDS are the only nation's our nation trusts in public, though Macadonia is the least trusted, with the other four fully trusted. Came around last election, getting 10% of votes. However, those they elected proposed many effective and popular laws and acts, which greatly improved life. the part on professional training conscripts for example. it made the military a garenneeted college education. Also, they proposed the 6 year conscription period, considering the time it takes to train them. Only once did a part hold 90% of votes...during first two decades, where it was a de facto military dictatorship, do to the military party. For a military dictatorship, It still allowed free elections. The dictatorship came from the heavy presence in the buereucracy they had. The civilian government was never depowered, just they highly supported it.


government: Consitutional Military Merchant Republic. The Military and the bureaucracy by the time of the game were du jute the same, which just meant the truth was recognized. However, the government is still civilian, though due to our history, only those with officer training have every been elected. This is not constitutionally a requirement, just due to most having military experience, the average person trusts officers to know what they are doing. Also, the merchants are recognized as the Ruling class, and are considered employees of the logistic arms of the military. meritorcracy is considered highly important. To some, we appear to be a dictatorship. Those years have ended. the Police force is purely civilian, though composed of former soldiers. In fact, the only reason the military handles the civilian bureaucracy is that they have proven to be better at managing it than the civilian bureaucracy. democracy is considered sacred, just as much as trade is

OOC: P_F, I am kindly going to ask you to next game refrain from being the Nazis. The main reason is it only makes people want to destroy you reflexively. It is impossible for one to separate nazi from genocidal conquer. We will never trust a nation called Nazi Germany in IOT because of RL Nazi Germany's actions. Ironically, we have a better time trusting USSR then any nazi, despite Stalin having killed more. Probably helped Stalin managed to hide it so well. Granted, Stalin didn't start a world war. And anyways, their are better ways of controlling everything. Cultural and economic domination is always more effective, and it doesn't destroy infranstructe or kill. No, it makes your nation economically stronger.

Fear not: the prision system in the S.U.D.S requires that each prision has a preffessional team of psycolgists, especilly for reforming prisioniars. We will be sure that Hitler will see a psycolgist before he is set to the waiting cell he will be in before his trial.

OOC: BTW does each turn represent half a year, a year or 2 years? Just thinking for when to set out the S.U.D.S elections. I am considering 4 year terms for the Premier.
