Iraq sides with Iran in nuclear debate

A lot of people were also sure Bush had no chance of getting re-elected in 2004. The cries of rage on CFC when the impossible happened, are still fresh in my mind. Made for very entertaining reading.

Its true, Boy did we have egg on our faces.
Hecks it was almost as funny as having Chalabi appointed to the Minister of Oil especially after he passed information to the Iran and undermind US goals in Iraq as he sort to seize power. Failed WMD intell reports in which the Iraq war justification was based on, False, deceptive and criminally misleading post war picture painted which lead to subsequent Iraq reconstruction planning debacle.

Interesting Bush getting voted back in as a source of pride:p I think as time goes by it may well be considered wise not to mention that you voted for the guy, I'd of happily voted for Dan quayle if given the choice at the time, I suspect the current media dirt dishing on Bush is the tip of the ice berg. I think you should only boast about voting for someone who's vaguely competent or at least honest, lest the refelcted dirt splash on your pristine suit of armour.

I side with Iran in it's assertion that it has no interest in making nukes, prove me wrong :) :p 5-10 years away from making something it doesn't want is my opinion, so this discussion to me is academic politicaly .

Ah, the infamous wars of AD 234, AD 287, AD 321 between Christian and Islam!!

A bit of realism, please. But you're right, I should have said "since they first met, they've been at conflict"

Yes Steph this would be the war of Agu bak nazaar which ended in the beheading of the Sultan of Gishwara? The camel archers feld the field of the battle after the valiant English Knights lead by King Chaz and his loyal brother Prince Dave's heavy cavalry sundered them and then went on to harry the flanks; as I remember the heavy infantry then moved in in a solid push of pikes a weapon which was not invented until the middle ages, which slowly routed the Saracens from the field of battle, or they would have done if I had not of just been making it up ;)

Winner you have a very odd view of both old and current history, I hope your joking about the Muslims trying to invade the west today, are you working for the US perhaps?

The Muslims were no threat to anyone until well into the 10th century AD and after the crusades and before the wars for oil they were of no real interest to the west, chosing as they did to stem technological advancement which at the time they excelled in, in preference for belief. Not a bad idea pity we didn't follow suit in some ways. Thus the period after the crusades up until the 19th century and the colapse of the Otterman empire was peaceful and quiet at least between us and the Middle East, turning as we did on ourselves for domination on the fields of Europe.

He is talking about the continous struggle between the world of Christ and world of Islam. Since the day one, these worlds have been in war. There have been periods of intense conflict followed by periods of relative calm. That war temporarily ended with the Western (Christians in Europe stopped being Christians, so they now use the term "West" as a substitute for Western Christendom) victory in early 20th century. Islamic countries were crushed and their territory occupied by Western powers. Since that time, Muslims are trying to resurrect their past glory and power by various means, socialism, pan-arabic nationalism, terrorism, islamism etc.

They see we're weak and they want to be powerful once again. We don't want that, so there is a serious conflict of interests that is not going to disappear, it will only grow stronger and stronger.

So you could basically just say that Russia has also been in a continuous struggle with the west, except for periods when there was relative calm. That's silly logic, because in history, there have always been periods of war and calm.
