Thank god for the new stability rule. I actually nearly FUUUed when I saw my stability was the same.

A whole month passed before Grand Secretariat Findlay was released and in that time much had changed. The St. Johns conference had been suspended and the lights in the sky seem to be being viewed differently by many different nations. Some believed it a sign from god, others though it was an omen heralding the end of the world, Russia even thought it was the great leaders of its past coming back to help them.

All these Ideas however, were obviously absurd.

But on the day that Robert came out news arrived from Iceland, news that would bring them all great joy. It was a letter from Francois Bacon, it was short but the meaning was obvious, well obvious to any who knew what it meant, so not all that obvious really.

Dear Cabinet,
Martyr is purple. Green can now move up. Act 14 can now proceed. Blue-white is now good. Red Leaf is unknown.
Silver

Robert was overjoyed as he read the short letter, however also a little saddened. He made his way strait down to the Economic reform section of the Parliament building and quickly found his way towards the office he was heading for, but then he stopped. He couldn’t tell her like this. Then he had an Idea.

He rushed over to where a small man sat at his desk and quickly barked at him. “Paper, Ink.”

The man, a one Marvin-Geoff Stanley quickly rummaged around in his desk finding a small delicate looking ink bottle and some sheets of paper.

Robert snatched them and began writing hurriedly.

Dear Helen,

Meet me at the Blue Flag restaurant at 6 o’clock. I have good news

Yours with everlasting love,
Robert Findlay

He passed the sheet to the man and said “Make sure it gets to Miss Ashton.” He turned to leave and walked a few paces away before turning to face the man who was still sat at his desk “I meant now!”

5:55 the Blue Flag Restaurant.
Robert sat at the small table agitatedly adjusting the Bow tie he wore. He usually liked wearing smart clothes but now he just felt nervous that everyone else would look smarter than him. It seemed all the other tables were filled with men wearing dinner suits and women with great flowing dresses. He just sat there with a blue shirt and the official government blazer. There was not yet any sign of Helen but he hoped she would arrive soon.

He waited for another quarter of an hour. A waiter came and asked him if he wanted anything to drink so he asked for a glass of port. Finally after a few more minutes she arrived.

“Helen, I’m so glad you could make it.” Robert eagerly said as soon as she reached the table.

“It’s good to see you Tom.” Helen replied using Robert’s common nickname that had been acquired after much doubting and a case of preferred names of someone else which is all too complicated to divulge in this short amount of time.

“I have news regarding the trial in Iceland.” Robert stood up and pulled the chair opposite him out for Helen to sit on. She sat in the seat; Robert thought she looked pretty, even in the Government uniform. He smiled and then called over a waiter. “What can I get you dear?”

“A glass of white please.”

Robert turned to the waiting waiter and said “House white please.” Before turning and sitting back where he had been. He looked across the table at Helen and spoke softly to her. “All goes as planned, he has done what he had to and so you are now innocent of the crime. The job is yours waiting to be taken. All arrangements have been made and Act 14 is fully written and confirmed and ready to be activated.”

Helen looked dreamily into his eyes as if she want concentrating on his words at all. Her reply continued in a similar vein with the words “Robert, why haven’t you spoken to me for a month?”

Robert’s expression turned to one of slight agitation. “You know why, I’ve been being punished.”

Helen smiled and said teasingly “But why were you being punished.”

Robert realised what she meant and replied “Because I love you Helen.”

When the body of Simon de Dijon arrived in Québec there was no official act of remembrance until the funeral. The coffin was quietly taken of the ship with only the Undertakers, Prime Minister and the man’s son present. Pepinot de Dijon was Simon’s only remaining family member and he was a 12 year old boy, he felt bitter about the whole situation and when, during the funeral the Grand Duke had delivered a speech saying how noble, brave and special the man had been, Pepinot decided he couldn’t stand for it any more. He knew of the government scheme and why Simon had really dies. He knew that the letter that they had found had been a fake. And on that day Pepinot de Dijon, heir to the de Dijon fortune and family, decided he would betray his country and put an end to the petty squabbles.

He sent a letter to the NATO Security Council telling the true story.

A letter that would have momentous effect on the world.

Just this letter, from a 12 year old.
