Soviet Economy Gears Down!
Following the recent treaty with NATO, Soviet forces have begun to stand down. Withdrawls occurred from northern Italy, and Soviet forces that were once there now patrol the border in Trieste. Soviet and Warsaw Pact aircraft returned to airbases throughout Europe and celebrations began at the tearing down of the Berlin Wall. Troops of the Red Army eagerly returned to their families as many tank divisions found themselves back in Soviet territory. Soviet nuclear forces returned to Defcon 5. The Soviet Chairman, with his popularity soaring through the roof, annoucned his intention ot begin democratic reforms in the USSR and encouraged the Warsaw Pact to follow. Funds have been transferred to a peace time economy and generally the USSR continues to prosper.
