Is a US Border Fence Possible?

A door, no. But a wall erected around my garden, yes.

It would be an idea, a good one, time would tell? I think the Mexicans would boat round it anyway.

Not the ones trying to get into Arizona and New Mexico.

Make it a highly electrified fence then the problem is solved. You're just gonna need alot of generators.

Regardless, if we are going to build such an imposing wall on the border with Mexico, why not Canada?

That way we can show the world that we aren't hypocritical dicks.

I think the world already knows that we're some pretty hypocritical dicks.

Well, we could at least try to take a stab at improving our rep now couldn't we?;)

I guess they know something we don't...

I could go on for quite some time about how America is full of hypocrites of every race, religion, or political affiliation.

On second thought, I probably should have indicated my sarcasm a bit more.

That happens too often, my sarcasm slipping through unnoticed.

Until the Mongols bribed the guards...:mischief:

Maginot line didn't work either, because human ingenuity always finds ways to get around big, imposing structures.

IIRC the wall of china was anchored against the dessert which was considered impossible to pass for large armies. The mongols actually brough there army through the desert with massive logistics and byassed the wall.

These were also later put to use against the Persians. Which the mongols mobilitie would run rampart through the country drawing away the main huge persian army in an vain attempt to engage and defend the furtile farm lands. While the elites crossed an impressive 300km desert to launch a suprise attack on a fortess city which fell within three days.

How about big spikes, one every few miles. From which you hang any illegal immigrants you catch.

I should start doing that with the deer in my yard. Those buggers always eat my flowers!

Why would we build the fence? To stop the 100,000's of people illegally entering and staying in this country annually. Do we have millions of illegal Canadians living here? No. There is no hypocrisy.

Those of you talking about going around the wall via boats are missing the friggin point. The fence/wall (who gives a crap what you call it!) will stop the vast majority of those trying to enter. No measure will stop it all. But the flood will turn to a trickle.

I got news for you. The United States is a sovereign country with a right to control its own borders. Mexico is its own sovereign country with a very strict illegal entry policy. There is where the hyprocrisy is. I have yet to see an argument with much merit.

Most countries have pretty strict immigration policies. Are they hypocritical too?

Uhm...are we experiencing a unusual and large illegal migration from Canada?

If not, then building a fence on the Mexican border doesnt make us "hypocritical dicks".

When I was younger, my dad had a problem with crows eating all his garden (we didnt have a dog at the time), so he shot one and hung it by a noose from a homemade gallows. Now, crows are some of the smartest of birds, and with that dead crow out there, we didn't have a problem with them again that year.
