Is anyone else familiar with DHMO?

An unglamorous cause. I'd known about DMSO as a solvent, which trees use to wick nutrients through their fibres, and banned Olympic athletes used to pass steroids through their skin without injection marks. DHMO is similar, I guess.

Chemically it is not unlike DiMethyl SulphOne. For one thing it is a symmetrical molecule like DMSO. It is also often used a solvent, again like DMSO. However it generally goes through the skin in the opposite direction.

At this time, no organization of which I am aware has banned its use in athletics, where it is often used as a recovery enhancer. This is an area that might merit study.

I just hope that nobody acquires the means to turn DHMO into WMDs. Just look at eastern europe (e.g prague) to see how devastating this can be.

I guess my April Fools joke fell flat. DHMO is otherwise known as water. It is responsible for thousands of deaths every year, is a common industrial solvent and is widely used by atheletes in their cooling off periods to prevent cramping. It may have other uses of which I have not read in the literature.

Anyway some guy has a joke site up, so I thought I'd use it.
