Is being Homophobic wrong?

Do you beleive that people whom have prejudice against homosexuals are morally wrong?

Discuss

No, but if they act on it it could be.

I think oppressing those with a different sexuality is wrong, but thinking it isnt.

Just as you would be dismissed as an idiot and a bigot.

Unending cycle.

This just in: MobBoss can read.

Well I said this before but anyway: from his perspective he's 100% not a bigot because he's merely following his religion, from our perspective he is 100% a bigot, who's right?

Suffice to say if he came to Europe with such an attitude he'd find such propositions regarded as unethical and he would be labelled a bigot, however in his own country he would only be labelled as a bigot by those who weren't religious, in his own community his behaviour is consistent - to my mind ethically moribund but to his fine - which means he can consider himself right and we can consider him a bigot and both of us our right from our perspective.:)

Idiot is another matter though :p:D

Homophobia is a social conditioned state. We're all affected by it in some way. "You are gay!" is still an insult.

The same goes for prejudice against female dogs, kids born out of wedlock, certain bodyparts and donkeys :)

I don't like seeing them kiss (or worse) in public places, I find that extremely disgusting. I don't like the poofy voices or the way some of them dress themselves. Simply put, they're not my favourite group of people, but that doesn't mean much - I'd say the same about vegans, punkers or anti-nuclear activists.

I don't think they should be discriminated. I also have a right to have an unfavorable opinion of some people. So no, I think it is not morally wrong.

If it is a true "phobia", then no it isn't wrong. People can only be held so responsible for a truely irrational, uncontrollable fears.

However, homophobia is often used to label something that is actually closer to just prejudice and hatred.

Most guys feel the same as Winner when it comes to guys kissing, yet go bonkers when they see women kissing. Its because male homosexuality is too close to home for their comfort, while female homosexuality is a safe way for them to enjoy the illicit thrill of the forbidden.

Disliking homos is not wrong in any way for what ever reason. Actively supporting unfair treatment for homos because you don't dig them is very wrong.

I think the aversion to male homosexuality involves turning a one way road into a two way highway. ;)

Actually, I would say that it is the opposite - female homosexuality has 2 members of the gender to which they are attracted, and male homosexuality has none.
Oh, ok, took me a second to figure this one out. I think the key thing here isnt that there are two of what men are attracted to. Its what theyre doing. If the women were naked but just doing their taxes, it would generate a certain amount of interest, but not anything like lesbians going at it.

Or an exit into an entrance? Nah, thats the reason most men dont get prostate exams.

All prejudice is morally wrong.

OFT :goodjob:

There are more than enough people in the world deserving of your bile. Adding whole swaiths to the list on the basis of gender, race, sexuality, creed or whatever just doesnt make any sense. Hard enough world as it is.

Hating people on the basis of their sexuality is no different to hating them on the basis of their race etc.

I think it's kinda obvious that two naked women doing something sexual would generate more interest than two naked women doing something entirely nonsexual.

For example, if the two women were doing their taxes naked, while a third woman was performing various sexual acts on them, I can betcha that this would generate a ton of interest, and not just due to the elegant accounting methods employed ;)
