Is BUG MOD an exploit?

Full auto is the Hyper modern style. Auto promote, missionary and wrkrs. Think there is a article somewhere "Attacko's Hyper Modern Auto Gambit"
Old schoolers micromanage and write codes to make it easier- which is a pretty smart cheat'n thing to do actually.

For fun, once I made a "lucky hut" mod: 19/20 possibilities of getting a tech and 1/20 of getting high gold ( just for the huts give anything after the hut poppable techs are all in ) in all levels except Noble ( I didn't wanted to share my luck with the AI ;) )..... let's say that getting most of the early techs from huts is cool, but it feels kind of cheesy :p

I'm not sure whats more rigged, that or 100% settlers :p.

Current version of BUG ( 2.30 ) is compatible with 3.17

Correct, and BUG 3.0 which will be released in a few days will correct several issues related to 3.17's new "No Espionage" option.

You can always get the latest version of BUG via the Download BUG and BAT thread.

Don't mind the warning that 2.30 is not compatible with 3.17. I'll have Alerum fix that message. It definitely works with 3.17, but if you play with "No Espionage" you'll be missing the power rating information of your rivals.

Isn't solver's unofficial patch supposed to have fixed that already?

Solver's patch does indeed allow you to see the power graph of all rivals in the demographics screen. BUG includes this fix and removes the Espionage graph from the menu of choices to view. Feel free to use Solver's CvInfoScreen.py if you like.

However, BUG's scoreboard has a feature to show a power ratio comparing you to your rivals if you have enough espionage points (built-in See Demographics passive mission). When "No Espionage" is enabled, it shows the ratio for all rivals since there are no espionage missions. These changes are in CvMainInterface.py, and if you use BUG you must use this file from BUG.

Sirlin, the man behind the Playing to Win articles about competitive gameplay and one of the top Street Fighter 2 players in the country, is in charge of the new Street Fighter 2 rebalancing and rerelease. In this, he has given new, easier button combinations to a few moves which were previously very difficult to pull off.

Some people complained that these changes would "dumb down" the game, and make it worse. Sirlin replied that every serious tournament player can do these moves 100% of the time. But furthermore, he said that having the dexterity to use Cammy's Hooligan Kick is not the interesting part of a fighting game; the interesting part is reading the mind of your opponent and making good decisions. He suggested that those who believed otherwise had "missed the point."

I believe that the same thing is true re: Civilization IV and the BUG mod. Anyone who thinks this sort of tedious micromanagement is "a part of the game" has missed the point; Civilization is about making good decisions on a strategic level, not about remembering when Athens will grow to size 8 and become unhappy. BUG is not going to turn Noble players into Emperors, or Monarchs into Deities. It is simply going to make the game better.

It is not a cheat, it is a timesaver
fatigue, anxiousness, ect can lead to one making mistakes. Time is a strategical factor.

Then, my friend, why are you playing BtS? You know that the BtS trade screen is a borrow from HoF mod and that the warlords one was far less.... elegant ( to say the least ). Given that using that screen in the BtS is more expedite than in warlords ( I do remember taking hours planning my tech trades using that combersome tool ), playing with BtS is cheating, by your own definition......

So if I'm using a fast PC, I'm cheating because my games don't take so long and I'm less fatigued when playing?

Troy, you're following an extremely fundamentalist position which uses such a broad definition of "cheating" that the term becomes useless by your own standards. Some posts ago, you said "Most mods help the player, so they are cheats", and labeled the BUG mod as a cheat, because it does help the player by reducing the time and effort necessary to access information.

By your definition, having a bigger monitor is a cheat, because it helps me noticing what's going on on the map. Remapping keyboard commands to my "Strategic Commander" input device is a cheat because it helps me by allowing me to enter commands quicker. Locking myself in my room and unplugging the telephone and door bell is a cheat because it helps me to concentrate on the game. Wearing my glasses is a cheat because they help me reading the texts and correctly understanding what's going on instead of having to guess. Buying a new chair is a cheat because it helps me to focus on the game by removing the distraction from the pain in my back.

I don't think that your definition makes much sense. It does allow you to label the BUG mod as a cheat, but only because it broadens the definition of cheating so much that it's actually impossible to play without cheating. And if you have to stretch the definition this far to be able to label the BUG mod as a cheat, then it might make more sense to simply realize that this mod is not a cheat, and keep a *workable* definition of cheating.

not sure anything was stated about an official game expansion with altered mechanics being equal to a user made mod for said expansion.
Yes, my contention is that mods favor the modder and are at best unconsciously biased.
