I just recently switched from NWN to C3C. I got to an area where my slow mobo and proc couldnt handle the 40+ enemies so I thought, "Eh, what else can I waste my time with?" Here I am. I think it's a terminal case.
Civ has definately been a big time waster, er, taker for me. I've played this game since the original release. I even bought Civ1 when I didn't have a computer to play it on. I'd go up to the computer center at KU and play there all night on the weekends.
Grand Theft Auto III & Sequals have been another one. And Red Faction. RF2 was okay, but the original was much better.
I've almost spent more money on GTA than Civ. As I haven't bought Civ4 yet, it's pretty close. I think I've spent more on GTA than on Civ3, but just barely. That's not counting Civ1 & 2 tho....
Yep, Civ3 is my biggest addiction, it's the only game I've hung with for over the past 4 years. Although I am a little turned off from Civ right now, because I just got SW: Empire at War and a Nintendo DS, soon I'm going to pick up GalCiv II once I get enough money. Those games will keep me busy for a while.
Civ3 is the current game I am addicted to, say staying up to 4:30 the last two nights, or moring should I say?
From my memory, a few games can hook me up to spend to whole day (and even the whole night then to see the sunlight when I realized I have to rest!)
They are:
Championship Manager (now Football Manager) : Football fans' favorite managment game
Pro Evolution Soccer 3: Football fans' favorite on-the-field game
The sims : very fun to play but has its limitation...
Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 : I paticuraly like statege games and enjoy to build something then sit to watch the little men come up to react to it. Then build more new things to keep them happy, very fun.....same as The sims
Worms 2: fun and cute and unexpectedly deep game!
I found that console games (I have Playstation 2 and Xbox) are good to play but not quite addicted, maybe the reason is the type of the games...but GTA3 and sequels are really good!
Right now, it occupies most of my time. I like to play golf (Links 2003), just finished Doom 3 (a very unsettling game to me, to say the least. I haven't played the earlier incarnations), considering getting Half Life 2, and trying out Call of Duty.
