Do you really think that's an appropriate reaction?Glad you like it. I hate it. And, I want the people involved with making the decisions to go this direction to not be involved going forward.

Yes. I hate the decisions they have made with this game's development and I have no confidence in this team. Reassign them, fire them, I don't particularly care, I just don't want them developing a Civilization game.Do you really think that's an appropriate reaction?
Somehow I doubt your strange personal enmity towards people you’ve never met in your life makes them more likely to reflect upon your feedback.Yes. It's not personal. I'm criticizing the development decisions they have made and those decisions give me zero confidence that they are the correct people to lead this franchise going forward. A new team is required.Somehow I doubt your personal enmity towards them makes them more likely to reflect upon your feedback.
Criticism should be leveled at the game itself, not the human beings behind it.
They won't do thisI could see them adding an option to just keep your civ for the duration of the game instead of swapping, but I don't think they will make it so that you could play later-age civs in antiquity.
When a game franchise I love goes in a direction I don't care for that's a sign for me to move on or simply stick with the iterations I love. I don't wish professional harm upon the developers - and in every case if I'm not the market there's someone else who is. I'm glad they enjoy it even if it's not for me.Yes. Nope. I'm not going to coddle grown adults. They understand the consequences of poor business decisions, as millions of other people deal with every single day. When a game franchise I love goes in a direction I don't care for that's a sign for me to move on or simply stick with the iterations I love. Maybe you should take a step back?
I remember when you made a thread about why you lost interest in Civ and potentially saw yourself never coming back to the series. It was a thoughtful reflection and analysis of the trends and ideas in the series and in Civ 6 specifically. When a game franchise I love goes in a direction I don't care for that's a sign for me to move on or simply stick with the iterations I love. Weird language man. “Punish them.” “See the light.” It’s a videogame. The people making it don’t need to be attacked.
I happen to like the changes, and I’ve preordered the Founder’s edition 4 times already as gifts for my Civ friend group, all of whom actually are really excited.
So you may think they need to “see the light” but plenty others think they’re right on track.
Yep. For example: I'm a big Star Trek fan. There's been a lot of bad Star Trek made over the past decade, mostly by Alex Kurtzman. I don't wish him harm, but I don't want him anywhere near a Star Trek script, set, casting call, etc. He can keep working at Paramount, I don't care. But, I don't want him anywhere near Star Trek, ever.If you like the what the devs showcased that is, that is great for you, I hope you enjoy the game but the langauge here is not weird when we are talking about a capitalist media product like a video game
but if we don't like a piece of media or product being sold to us than the truest way of showing its creators we don't like something would be vocal complaints and withholding giving them money and that is a punishment for corporations not meeting our expectations.
I do want to say that I'm not a big fan of the changes that they've made either. But I agree with your statement that there's no need to wish anything bad on the developers. Some of them did work on my favorite iteration, Civ 6, that I'll still continue to play for a while now. When a game franchise I love goes in a direction I don't care for that's a sign for me to move on or simply stick with the iterations I love. That's how I feel about this team. They can keep making games, that's fine with me. Never want them near Civilization ever again.

Vote with your wallet? Of course, absolutely, 100%. That is what 2K and Firaxis will be measuring.
Inappropriate Language
Our basic philosophy is that there is nothing that anyone needs to say on our forums that requires them to swear/cuss. If you can't get your point across without swearing, you will be infracted.
This forum is considered a family-friendly forum. We have an autocensor which will automatically remove many swear/cuss/bad words, but not necessarily all. Just because a word isn't caught by the autocensor, doesn't give you permission to use it.
Duh. I was asking how anyone can possibly know if it's a poor business decision yet. None of us do and we will only get a sense of it in 2025, so yelling about how this is a poor business decision right now is pure fantasy. We all live in a late-stage capitalist society together - we get it.The consumers who buy and consume and critique a product ultimately do.
Nah. Seems like you don't really understand the difference between constructive criticism and screaming in someone's face. There's lots of constructive criticism on this forum about what people are seeing. Don't you see that the people who are calmly saying "I don't like this and here's why" or "This doesn't really make sense" are generating thoughtful discussions?Again if you like how these changes sounds, we're not insulting you or telling you not to buy the game but for the people who don't like these changes (which seems to be quite the number of us) vocal criticism and not giving its devolopment team our money is the only recourse. I don't know why're you're taking offense on the devolopers behalf or pretending these subjective criticisms of their devolopment of a media product that is ultimately meant to be sold and consumed (at a hefty $70 with day 1 dlc at that) is a personal attack.
Irrelevant. I've been playing the franchise for 28 years, so that argument holds no water with me.You have to remember the Civilization series has been a significant part of many of our lives. Many of us longer than Ed Beach and his team have been working on Civilization.
