Brave words coming from someone who plays Pokemon.

Playing Pokemon does not make you a coward or weak in any sense

and this is a pot and kettle thing, since you play games and surf the forums online, which is equally nerdy

we're all nerds in that sense, although it's not really nerdishness...but whatever

It is easy for a coward to mock that which others mock. It takes courage to stand apart, to stand alone, to do what YOU want to do without any regard to whether or not others will like it

or think it's cool

so yeah, I guess they are brave words ;)

Well, that's exactly my point. I mean, if it was peer pressure that made you play Pokemon, I could forgive you, cos it wasn't really you that decided to do it. But you made a conscious effort to play it.

Now I'm confused

but yeah...I guess the point got across

:)

From this thread, I actually dusted off my old gameboy and started playing Pokemon again. Simply wasn't as fun as I remember, sadly. Which is a shame, as most of the games I used to love I enjoy even more if I get the chance to play after such a long time.

Same here, except I downloaded an emulator and a rom. Gave up on it after about twenty minutes or so.

Which emulator?

Linkage please?

Uh, no. I'm fairly certain that's not allowed.

However, I can provide you with an excellent alternative:

http://google.ca

I've been told that it searches the internet!

Kan', Pasi: I recommend variants. The actual game does get boring if you know what's going to happen.

(If only there were modders! Sigh...)

What the boop is wrong with pokemon? This smells suspiciously like a bad case of pecking order to me: "Okay, we're [adjective], but at least were above THOSE people who are so [adjective] that the play pokemon. Ewww."

There is nothing wrong with playing Pokemon over the age of 12, it simply is a bit immature to be so fascinated by a game targeted at people much younger than you.

The people in marketing can target whatever they want at whomever they want, that doesn't make it a "little kid game" nor does it make you "immature" for playing it. If that were the case, then playing Mario or Donkey Kong is immature in just the same way. I should go play manly games directed at my age group, right? Like Grand Turismo or Grand Theft Auto!

Actually simply playing the game, i.e. the actual gameboy game isn't bad at all, but if you are obsessed with the cards, the toys, and the show at an age above 12 that is where it gets to be a bit immature. But simply playing the game is not wrong at all, nor pathetic, it would be like playing Mario or some other game.

I agree. The rest of those are simply capitalizing on the greatness of the game itself. Though the card game was immensely fun way back in the sixth grade. :p

Darn skippy! :D I somehow always accumulated a bunch of fakes though...

Playing pokemon is not a sin - as long as nobody knows!!!

Situation time:

Your in a room. In front of you is the ultimate pokemon game and a hot redhead who is totally willing. Do you play with the pokemon or the redhead?

If you answer wrong you are not a man. You are a half a man, a mu if you will.
