Is it recommended to update individual components? (BUG for example)

hey guys,

I'm interested in trying out ROM and I've downloaded the installer. However, I've noticed that BUG mod has been updated to 4.4 and the version included in ROM is 4.3.

Is there a way to update BUG or any other components if you they have newer versions? If yes, do you recommend I do this?

Thanks.

No, No, No, and No, for emphasis. It takes a good understanding of the code involved (python) to update it for a mod of this size. BUG 4.4's changes are minor, as well.

Afforess' knee jerk reaction is understandable. However you can do whatever you like on your machine.

Yes you could update BUG but consider the following -
  1. you need good python skills, with Civ V coming out soon you wont need python but Lua skils, is the investment worth it?
  2. a new version of RoM will be coming out with a new version of RevDCM and will include the latest BUG
  3. the latest BUG is not very different from the one in RoM

As to other components, I am not sure what you mean, but if you mean RoM mods or mods from outside RoM then why not.
