Is there a way to avoid domination?

if topic about "avoid domination".. Than my question would be - how to win conquest without domination on huge map with 18 civs? Should I keep for myself only best cities and give everything else to vassals? And does domination % changes by time if there are less civs?

Give away cities is normally the best way to avoid domination.

Check the Victories screen, and if it is nearing the limit, give away cities.

Vassals lands count towards you domination limit, but at a rate of 50%.

Starting civs give the domination limit. Doesn't matter if some are killed or some are created (by granting colonies)

I have usually builded a spaceship ! ;) or cheese away cultural ....

So this could be possible if I take everyone as vassal (gifting them back all crappy cities), but last 2-3 AI taking out completely with razing cities.. That should keep me away from 51% land area (thats the domination limit I found in current game)

If playing with domination disabled, there is no information to check. The question I am asking is will a domination victory still kick in. I am asking if the function works.

I don't know why none of you guys, having played the game for years lack the ability to answer the question. It just shows how easy it is for faux stars to rise in the community.

I thought you were all being wise guys, turns out like sixth graders you're embarassed you dont know so you evade the question.

How many of you were dating Lennay Kekua out of mamma's basement?

If Domination is disabled, then that victory condition is not possible. If it is enabled, then to avoid domination, you will need to raze and/or gift cities.

Razing cities seems a good way to avoid domination. (leaving Your Empire economically sound) It is almost as immoral as slavery but what can I say humankind is a race of devious predators ;)

In CIV, can you just play for a time victory or does domination kick in like in Civ3?

In custom game before you load the map it gives you a list of the standard win conditions time/con/dom/cult/space. Unchecked the ones you want disabled (such as them all other then time). Then sit back and enjoy your long civ session.

I don't count a time victory as a victory personaly becuase its not very rewarding and hard, but each to themselves.

Hey listen, you piece of laziness. I have answered much more tough questions that took 1-2 hours to answer, just to get not a single thanks in return. This one takes like 5 mins of your life and you're not even willing to take the effort to verify it and confirm yourself.

I know I can answer, but I'm not willing because just because you effing too lazy to make the effort yourself.

EDIT: Also the OP question was a bit obscure. I misinterpreted it.

The only way to improve yourself is to improve yourself. We're sometimes a wiseguys, sometimes we're helping (or hope to help) Tachy is probably the most helping guy around and it is not wise to anger him like that. Thank You mighty Tachywaxon for showing Your help and let striving punny players like me to improve !

There's no mighty Tackywaxon, but always a mighty Zx Zero Zx.

You're not puny player, you're criminally insane. I should stay away from your flamethrower...

hey everybody, FLAPDOODLE PANCAKE????

"huh?"

WHY CANT YOU ANSWER MY QUESTION CLEARLY YOU KNOW NOTHING!!!!1

and scene.

:dubious:
What? What scene (EDIT: as in making a scene out of rage)? I'm really getting lost in General Disc recently.
Ok, I will behave seriously, so we can avoid any more of this "flapdoodle".

End of MY scene! End of the scene of my little dramatic reconstruction.

To avoid domination raise all captured cities except the starting cities and cities with wonders.

To avoid culture do not build wonders yourself unless absolutely necessary and if capturing cities with wonders raise them as well when you normally would not.

To get a Time victory do the above 2 while only going to war if absolutely necessary and not over expanding. Quite simple really.
