Look, every side has its people who take it too far.

Yes, "Social Justice Sally" can be annoying, but at least she means well and has a basic grasp of reality. She'll probably grow up and get a little more realistic. I don't think Social Justice Warriors, as they're called, are malicious at all. I think they'll find their way, and it's not like they don't make a good point or two. I remain ambivalent about them, mostly, but I don't think too ill of them.

I'm not really "into" politics anymore, at all. Call that white privilege or whatever if you like. I just have too much of my own bullcrap going on, I can't spare the energy.

That said, I think American conservatism is in far worse shape. You have major candidates running around saying the pyramids were used to store GRAIN, ffs!

Besides, Joseph clearly built the Pyramids to run Representation and kick-start his specialist economy.

Well, free tuition could be one way to squash these movements.

Right now, colleges are businesses, and businesses need customers. Thus they need to employ marketing strategies to attract customers. Now, one might argue, "Isn't the product of a good education enough? Aren't connections to job opportunities in the forms of internships enough?"

However, all colleges offer that. The campus is the the only region in which colleges can compete with one another to attract customers. Thus you have movements like this, which are the customers letting the business know what changes they would like to make.

And I know most people will look down on college kids for this, but personally I'm glad that there's a stage in your life when you have some measure of control over a business, because businesses will spend the rest of your life screwing you over, even if people use that power for less than stellar purposes.

However, if free tuition is made available, then the consumer business aspect of the relationship is gone, and college students will have little sway to make unreasonable demands on colleges.

If you want to keep your money then fine, but don't complain about the consumers demanding their money's worth.

University of Missouri Names Black Interim President

Michael Middleton, 68, takes over for Tim Wolfe, who resigned abruptly on Monday amid student-led protests over his administration’s handling of racial complaints.

Middleton, who is black, resigned as deputy chancellor of the Columbia campus in August and took on the role of deputy chancellor emeritus. He had been working part-time with the campus’ chancellor, R. Bowen Loftin, on a plan to increase inclusion and diversity at the school.

Middleton has a bachelor’s degree from Missouri and became one of the first black graduates of the law school in 1971. He worked with the federal government in Washington and was a trial attorney in the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division before joining the university law faculty in 1985.

He also helped found the Legion of Black Collegians, a student group involved in the current protest, and himself participated in previous campus protests for civil rights and against the Vietnam War.

He was interim vice provost for minority affairs and faculty development starting in 1997, and a year later was named deputy chancellor. In that role, he was credited with turning women’s studies and black studies programs into their own departments.

Free education should be one of the most basic rights, and the 'tarded way of the anglosphere to make people pay through the nose and indebt themselves for decades to not be uneducated and unemployable is just one of the most oppressive tool ever designed to keep youth in check. And it's starting to pollute more evolved countries with this backward market mentality.

Oh, my apologies. Only ONE of your major candidates claims the freaking PYRAMIDS are GRAIN SILOS built by Hermes or Jupiter or Joseph or whatever...

I'm all for absolute free expression, even of complete nonsense. But one of the things free expression requires is for people to stand up and say "By the way, this *is* nonsense."

Ancient Egyptian history isn't directly relevant to the presidency. However, I don't consider someone with an idea like that to be properly acquainted with reality.

If I am paying anything (tuition, student loans etc), then I will complain as loud as I want about whatever my little teenage/20 something heart desires. If you (the taxpayers) are paying the whole bill, then I can't complain, cause its "free." You rarely see homeless people protesting or boycotting homeless shelters and soup kitchens.

Taxes that are being taken from me by force to pay for services that I am not using are theft. You can try to sugarcoat it all you want. The morality of Robin Hood robbing the rich to give to the poor is debatable, but the definition of robbery isn't. Taxes are the same thing. Taxes being taken to pay for education is a valid position to hold and there's a debate to be had there, but that debate has to start by being honest about what we're talking about, and when it's framed as FREE TUITION! without any caveat about how it is to be paid for, the conversation is already starting with dishonesty. It's starting with dishonesty because they don't want to call it what it actually is, socialized education, because they know that most Americans then will not support it, so they re-frame it as "free tuition" and hope that nobody will notice that it is not, in fact, free, that teachers, administrators, and groundskeepers still have to be paid.
