The problem with being military (besides the shooting at you - let's overlook that minor problem) is that your legal obligations can easily diverge from your moral ones. You can't legally limit yourself to participate only in just wars. And in any particular battle, you might be ordered to destroy a building and all its inhabitants when you know there are only civilians there. If you object that there are no enemy there, but are told by your commanding officers that there are, can you legally disobey?

When you are part of a team of men that depends on each other, and the training involved in that.....having those kind of doubts can get people killed.
