Per Mouthwash request, we'd better make a thread about this instead to talking about in on the forests thread.

International media is finally reporting on some of the things happening inside Israel now:

In line with previous protests in recent weeks that have resulted in dozens of Palestinian fatalities, there were no reports of any dead or injured on the Israeli side.

It was soon clear that repeated calls on Israel to show restraint were being swept away by volleys of teargas and live bullets, with most of the casualties concentrated in the southern Gaza towns of Khan Younis and Rafah.

The violence began as it would continue. In one area, about 150 metres from the border fence, reporters watched two men who tried to advance towards the border fence being shot in the legs by Israeli troops. Scores more were hit in the upper body, according to health workers.

Included among the Palestinian fatalities were three men the Israeli military said it had killed as they tried to place an explosive device near the border fence; 14-year-old Az-Adin Asamak; a medic; and a man in a wheelchair who had been pictured on social media using a slingshot, while Al Jazeera television said one of its reporters had been injured by Israeli live fire.

Possibly that was a slingshot with guided missile stones, mind you.

I patiently wait for the UK, US, France, etc to condem Netanyahu as an "animal" who "kills his own people" and "murders civilians". For millions of dollars in financing being channeled to new assistance organizations (what about "Green Helmets" for a name?) to help the victims of this government military assault against civilians. For the UN condemnations and the sending of weapons to the brave freedom fighters whom may arise. And for the condemnation over the use of chemical weapons against civilians. Perhaps the "international community" can eventually press Israel to joying the OPCW?

Some kites have also been released that have started small fires in Israel.
The Iron Dome system did not shoot them down.

If you add in the other days when this has happened it is over a hundred dead from Israeli snipers firing into Gaza.

I wonder how many Senate Democrats we can get to say something, anything, about it. Less than ten?

I'm more concerned by the fact that most of the Democratic Party seems to approve of these measures.
GOP Senators too.

Here's the thing: Many NY (esp) Jews retire to Florida, making them a swing constituency there. Florida is a swing state. No national politician wants to anger the Jews, allowing the pro-Israeli lobby to swing way above its weight.

BTW: Here's Fox News' headline:
NY Times accused of anti-Israel bias in Gaza violence coverage

Israel is always held to an impossible standard by those who hate it.

I suggest the following experiment : get a slingshot and start shooting against an armed police officer in any violent city of the world and see what happens. I know in Rio they would shoot you aiming at the head.

Here in Paris the Islamic thugs that pull knives on police officers are routinely shot down and killed, and we call the officers who kill them heroes.

The terrorists who instigated those "spontaneous" demonstration of Palestinian outrage (aren't they always outraged) knew very well that many deaths would follow, and they wanted many deaths to follow. Because for them Palestinians are nothing other than expendable pawns to achieve their aims.

Nobody gives a damn about Palestinian lives, starting by Hamas.

Palestinian lives are just chips in the game

A showing of determination by Israel to be strong, and less hypocritical in their public statements on it than most other governments
A convenient supply of martyr blood for Hamas and the like.

I understand tit for tat related strategies.
But I never want to understand that eye for an eye

It's funny how you hold up the police in Rio as an example of how police should behave...if it makes you feel any better, I also consider Brazil's government to be a semi-genocidal and half-legitimate settler-colonial entity...

Well unlike puritan Americans I don't like poking other people's eyes when my own homeland is so problematic.

But let's have fun. Israel shot Palestinians who were charging against a militarized border, and attacking soldiers with primitive weapons. US police has shot and killed people for reasons of... Being black? Sounds like a lesser offense than charging a militarized border.

While of course the notion that modern Brazil is a settler-colonial society is ridiculous and ignorant SJW nonsense, the fact is enormous human rights abuses do happen there, but the international community doesn't care even 0.1% of what it does about Palestinians. Maybe because the people doing the killing aren't Jews.

Anyway. When Hamas told people to go charge against a militarized border, they knew exactly what would happen and hoped that exactly this would happen. What else exactly could have been expected? What other outcome was even possible?

Oh, don't give me this crap. As far as you're concerned the Palestinians are cockroaches who deserve to die if they dare to "charge a militarized border".

No, they're human beings like you or I subject to the same laws of cause and consequence. If I attack police officers or soldiers in violent places I too will in all likelihood die.

If you think Brazil and the US are settler colonial societies and thus inherently murderous, check the behavior of post-apartheid South African police towards violent protesters.

I love how easily people can justify something terrible because America.
Because Turkey, because Saudi Arabia, because Egypt, because China, because Jordan, because South Africa, because humans.

One person is not always representative of people, especially when that person has long since revealed themselves as an authoritarian.
