It is God ordained behavior

Since nobody seems to read the Chamber these days maybe MC's threads are right there after all.

Dogs stick up their tails and growl. Monkeys beat their chests and shriek. Fish flare their gills and fins. A snake coils and rattles its tail.

This is the way that species defend themselves. A clear and stark warning. Followed by clear consequences if the warning is not heeded.

This is ordained by the creator. If it were not His will then He would have created other behavior.

And if you don't believe in God, you must admit it is the way of nature.

Therefore, it follows that a leader of men or nations should ensure the safety and security of his charge by exhibiting the same behavior. Displays of power and declarations of intent.

This behavior is a clear deterrent to aggression.

Some say, that is silly primitive behavior. Is it now? Must we not communicate in terms that aggressors will understand? In the jungle you must speak the language of apes.

If you do it not, and appear weak, you invite attack. And you will be attacked. And run over if you are perceived as being unwilling to fight back.

This is why a country needs a commander in chief that will be strong at all times, especially when citizen's lives have been taken and never weak or go out of his way to be inoffensive to those who would oppose us.

God and nature is offended by such a weak stance, and it shall NEVER be said that the people prefer shame to pride.

I think it's an apt metaphor, but more wisdom can be drawn from it. It's a two-way path, using signs of strength to deter aggression.

The deer spends a lot of energy growing those horns, and those horns make it harder and harder to travel through the brush, too.

Deers also spend a lot of energy being aware of their surroundings and being able to flee in case a predator comes close. We conclude that different courses of action can be appropriate under different circumstances. And surprisingly this is true for heads of state too!

(Are deer horns even used to impress anyone else but does and competitors for said does?)

Of course!

Such behaviour escalates the conflict, and causes war when diplomacy could have handled it better. I rather people in charge be more peaceful than the masses.

It is probably a good time to mention that a deer has eyes that allow it to see a vastly greater area than humans because it is a fairly defenseless herbivore. But us predators have eyes that have a much smaller field of view which allow us to more effectively track and kill our prey.

So does that mean that a god designed us to be killing machines who happen to also eat vegetables as well as meat? A surprising number of Christians seem to think so.

Exactly. You can have the biggest horns in the world but there'll be a point where your neck won't be able to take it and get out of the fight when it turns against your favor. You can't be a belligerent bully but you can't be completely weak, there has to be a balance and I don't think MisterCooper gets that there needs to be balance.
