JalNES I: Quick and Easy

OOC: The Oracle is supposed to be jalapeno! Not you! :p

How did anyone get iron to Ur? I don't recall letting someone through my territory, so unless they went the long way around the Arabian Peninsula, or managed a superhumanly quick unloading in Pontus even as the Medeans were bearing down upon them...
One caravan went around arabia, one travelled through the desert, and I got some iron from the northern barbarians who raided medean merchants.

translation: no war for you :p

OOC: That's what Apollo says? Yet I think it's trying to tell the Consul to go with what he believes is right in his heart, and not the People. It is cryptic...

EDIT: You're not very subtle andis :p It's called beyond the surface

OOC: I can think of several other ways in which this can be interpreted. Note that this is addressed to the consul, not Rome specifically.

Of course it's cryptic. It's the oracle of delphi.

Note that this is based on a historical prophecy, not that it will help you much.

I'm trying to figure out how Cicero's situation and mine are similar. :p Is it telling me to break our alliance with Sycrause and forge our own destiny like Cicero and Pompey? Grrr....

Should either one of you agree to the last wish of Medean emperor, I will announce that it will be taken as direct declaration of war against Ur. Be warned.

To: King Sargon of Ur
From: The League of the Sea Peoples

Since the days of Thira, we have wandered the bounds of the Earth. We have suffered betrayal and evils beyond bound. We have seen devastation beyond that of your wildest dreams. You have fought for hundreds of long years--and yet you do not know what death and life mean.

Death and life are the most sacred of things that are upon this earth. And from them springs the most sacred request that a man can make--his death-wish. We have seen men sold into slavery and women raped, but we have never seen the death-wish violated so blatantly.

We will respect the wishes of the last Emperor of the Medes. We will respect the most glorious of emperors, who fought to the last. We will fight for his dying wish.

If it should mean war that Iaxeres III is respected, then it shall be war.

The League of the Sea Peoples, in accordance with the last wishes of Iaxeres the Third, Emperor of Medea, Lord soveriegn of Cappadocia, Pontus, and Assyria, lays claim to the lands of Cappadocia and Assyria.

Our swords are well honed. Are yours?

To: Egypt
From: League of the Sea Peoples

Now is the time that an enterprising monarch of Egypt would strike us, attack us, stab us in the back. Now is the time that a cowardly, dastardly leader would attack us with haste and little regard for honor.

I have faith in you, however. I know that you have heard the tales of our great war that lasted three hundred long years. I know that you have heard the devastation it brought. I know that you have heard how all of Palestine and the Nile Delta were laid waste by marauding armies.

And I am entrusting you to keep your predecessor's word. I am entrusting you to adhere to these last two hundred years of our non aggression pact. I am trusting in you not to betray the sacred word of the ancestors.

For the love that you bear your children, do not break that trust.

To: Sparta
From: League of the Sea Peoples

The last century has been a stunning one in our relations. We have gone from being mortal enemies to, if not friends, then brothers--men who can live in peace with each other.

I know that you are in the midst of a brutal war with Byzantium. That you are fighting their ships through the whole of the Aegean, and that little success has shown itself for you.

You and I have an agreement binding us--the next two hundred years will be one of peace between us.

I sincerely hope you are more honorable than those who break the wishes of the dead.

To: Byzantium
From: League of the Sea Peoples

The Urrian threats of war means that we will require passage through the Bosporus. I trust that you will allow us this.

OOC: Stories coming later.

From: Byzantium
To: League of the Sea Peoples

We agree.

OOC: Yay! World war!

Well, this is interesting.

Thus, the remainder of Medea is formally part of the league of sea peoples, military, stats and all.

I might write some more stories, even if I have no nation for now.

OOC: Sorry to let you down :p

To: League of Sea peoples
From: King Sargon of Ur

Very well. Take upper mesopotamia, but remember, Medean king promised us our lands back.

OOC: That's no fun. :p

OOC: Or so we think! Andis is planning something!

Sheesh, you guys are so paranoid. No-one has nothing to worry about, or do they? Maybe I honor the treaty, maybe I don't, or maybe I don something else entirely, you'll never know... MWAHAHAHAHAHA*cough, cough* krrhm, this is getting on my voice, ...HAHAHAHHAAA
