Intrude: Really depends on the event. Short of some Michael Bay-esque scenario (mega-landslide, meteor impact), a tsunami is not going to really be notable out at sea unless it's a perfectly calm day. The Indonesian tsunami, for example, was a few meters' swell out at sea.Now, I don't know for sure that tsunamis can sink ships, but storm surges much less than that height certainly can, so it seems like tsunamis would as well.
So, in most instances, if it's out at sea, probably not (though more so yes in this era), but if it's in port, it's floatsam.
