Jernoran- Halfling Civ

np cyther I like your ideas, I'll defenetly use them.

You're welcome. I'm imagining them like hobbits, just not as nice and there are no rings involved. How do short, weak species survive? They pick off the scraps of the bigger beings. This one just happens to be organizing. :mwaha:

I would have pictured the starting archer line units to be slingers rather than wielding crossbows.

I also kind of picture a more culture orientated civ....with that culture very much centreing around yeast and hops! Perhaps they could get additional culture/happiness boosts for Taverns/Inns?

Are you considering an affinity at all? Presumably - considering the thief element - you'd be thinking Shadow? I'd guess the tempatation would be to then say Nature - but nature is a bit well worn, and the Svart already have it in combination with Shadow. Perhaps then Air - representing a playful element to their nature?

For the final palace resource - what about Ale?

If you go down the ale side of things, perhaps then - after looking at the Bestiary Kael put together - you could 'ally' them to Clurichaun? This wouldn't be represented by units as such, but perhaps the Clurichauns would play tricks on invading enemies so that each enemy troop in Jernoran territory has a risk of perhaps losing weapon bonuses, or taking very minor damage, siege engines losing movement for a turn, or horses bolting (unit moves off randomly)?

Their justification for aiding the Jernorans would be that they would be seen as the premier beer makers!

I agree on the slingers. These guys remind me kind of like mischievous kids, but far more deadly and far more likely to hold together an empire. You could make a Clurichaun UU for them. I think it would be interesting.

Yeah, slingers is a good idea. Also, since they're aren't melee based, I say they shouldn't have access to iron and mithril weapons, but have special promotions for their slingers. Like at first they'd use rocks, then sharpened copper balls, when who knows what? It's just a crude idea. Could use a lot of tinkering.

This addon seems pretty cool, I'm not into huge wars, but would rather harass my enemies (and allies) in sneaky ways. I think it would be cool if they got some solid cultural bonuses to help with taking cities since they seem pretty weak in direct attacking, plus culture flipping cities is my fav way to take a city.

Gonna play a game with them tonight, will let you know what i think

Do they have a way to steal food? That way they can grow their cities by raiding. Makes it even more important.

Steal food? hehe, I'm not sure the stealing gold feature is even balanced right now. I might just add espionage from normal bts back to FfH just for the Jernoran.

probably not, but since you would make a copy of your ffh folder when installing you could still give it a try :dunno:

Maybe look at the AoW2 halflings for unit ideas, I kinda like the Idea of the Halfling Sheriff as a UU idea.

what is AoW?
