I assumed the toy was from a show, but apparently it is a stand alone. Either way it is good to note this idea didn't come from thin air, it is a ploy to allow a child to pretend to be something they are already familiar with and presumable like.

If anything, they are the epitome of global harmony in the sense that all people regardless of sex, sexuality, race, creed, religion, age etc would find them awful.

Yeah I really only ever hear these "controversies" from people complaining about them. If it weren't for a large swathe of hypersensitive people shrilly screaming "OMG look what the PC brigade are complaining about now!!!!", I'd literally never hear about things like this.

Was this shoe marketed towards kids, or is this an adult athletic shoe or something? It looks like one of those shoes that only hipsters or black people buy, and the only people I've seen complaining about it are white kids who aren't really in the target market for this sort of thing anyway?

I can see how people might think its racist (I think a nod to prison culture is more likely than slavery personally), even though I don't think it is. It's a pretty ugly shoe though.
