JH-1: Restless Indians

Lets get this game rollin! Its been a week since strauss finished his turns. rdddc05, you're up man!

Doh! I musta missed his post. My bad, will get it done in 24 hrs.

EDIT: OK, here it is 10 turns later. Founded the wine city, so the economy is about busted, but some courthouses are on the way. I have Teno building research so that we are making some progress at least. Huayna asked for CoL and I gave it to him. Explored down there as well. He built a city up on our isthmus, but it's not a big deal. Got a couple more workers built. We need courthouses and granaries in all cities and all the cottages we can get going.

Good luck, here's the save:

Do you guys need an alternate? I have been looking to get involved in a SG, but start-up spots are scarce. I have been playing for a while at Warlord/Noble, but I'm sure I could hold my own at Prince with some advice. I am keen to get involved and I have been following your SG for a while now.

Please advise if you have a spot available.

Cheers, Spav.

I think an alternate would be a great idea. Go ahead and jump in and let's get this game rolling again. Folks can take up their spot as they get back to the boards.

@rddc05: Thanks for your reply.

I will d/l the save and play 15 turns tonight (I'm GMT+10) and post a report.

@JerichoHill: If I've butted in here where I'm not wanted, then just ignore my turns, advise me of your decision and I will edit my posts to remove any traces of my play.

Cheers, Spav.

Notes for next player: There’s a Barbarian city NE of Tlaxcala and I have a fresh Axeman in Tlaxcala heading that way to raze it.

Otherwise I did as was last suggested – built roads to hook up resources, built Courthouses and Granaries and cottaged where possible. Maintenance costs are down and gold income is up and we can probably run at a higher research level as a result. Check if it can be raised a further 10%.

I wasn’t sure of what to research next, so I took Metal Casting (for forges), but there is only one turn invested, so feel free to change it.

Cheers, Spav.

*should* have time tonight, darn court case.

rddc, you did fine. Thanks for helping out

Spav, good turnset.

For those that are still here, and the new guy, how the heck are we going to win this game given the variants?

Oh wow, we are sooooo backwards.

Umm...I researched the stuff that took less than 10 turns.

That barb city killed one axe, but we got 40 gold.

Converted to buddhism...we're gonna need to keep capac REEEEAALLL nice.

I dont know how we're going to dig our way out of this backwards hole we're in. I had to resist the urge to chop those grassland forests on the rivers just crying for cottages! At this stage I think that we need to concentrate on keeping our diplomatic relations as high as possible within our rules and aim for a tough diplomatic victory. I cant think of any other viable option, hows 'bout you guys?

I cannot view any other victory as achieveable except for diplo.

It's that we are soooo far behind techwise (like 7 techs) and that's just Capac.

I still want to give it a go. If we're not wiped off the map, then I think we succeed (given the variant is all about the hardships the Indians faced...I did want us to be tech backward...
)

I'm at work, so I can't see the save. However from my last viewing it looks like diplomatic is the best chance of victory as I can't see us achieving conquest, domination or space. Not sure about a cultural victory, but I suspect we've left our run too late for that.

However we have already broken one of our variants by adopting Buddhism as a state religion.
Variants

2) We always must worship Mother Earth. We cannot adopt a state religion, other than no state religion. Theocracy is our only available religious civic. If we found a religion, we cannot build its shrine.

Are we going to leave ignore this and continue? I think we should ignore as we have invested time in temples and monastaries.
