Joan d'Tupace

I have 730-odd for score the next worse is Japan who have around 1200. I am in fact losing ground on all civs including Aztecs and Japan in the score stakes. Not quite sure how but I find it very interesting. I also keep fluctuating from 1st to 2nd and vice versa in the demographics for Mfg. Good and GNP.

@Ansar: The yellow civ is Zululand, looks like I'll get the chance to lay some :hammer: :hammer: down on Shaka affter all :D

Yes, but it happened to me to have the same score (or something) with a civ 1/4 of my territory!

I'm sure you will beat them after all.

BTW, your sig is too long for the forum rules.

d'Tupace had planned this war, although to outsiders it looked undesired she had handpicked the spy to be caught. First thing was first though, she didn't want any pesky attack 4, defence 4 Samuari running around making life difficult for her so the first thing was to roll a catapult next to their iron mountain and.

13japiron6cz.jpg

They took 2 turns to arrive at the gates of Nara but d'Tupace's knight stack was able to best the 2 samuari defending the city and the pike and captured the strongest cultural city in Japan.

14nara3ga.jpg

But the plan was only to hold it long enough for a settler to arrive to found a loyal French city.
A quick glance from above revealed Japan had a source of iron at a city covered by Aztec culture. d'Tupace didn't want that iron going through Aztec territory and back to main Japan, so d'Tupace called up Monty and offered him so brand new horses if they would deal with that city for them.

15aztecalliance7tc.jpg

They only had to deal with one city, that not too much to ask is it?

d'Tupace noticed that the year was 590AD, the same year that the Legendary Zerksees took power of Japan on another world and guided a hopelessly weak nation to conquest victory from what seemed to be certain defeat. Unfortunately for Japan there was no Zerksees to save them now, the only one with the brain for that on this world happened to be leading the French right now.

d'Tupace, that leader with a brain, decided that the Aztecs wouldn't mind if she paid another 'diplomatic visit' to their research facilities. She got caught at first but quick talking, and a reminder that they were in an alliance and needed France's horses, meant she was able to keep out of trouble. Once everyone had left she had another go and had better luck.

Note to self: ALWAYS use 'Safe' steal never 'Cautious'! Thats the first steal I've failed in this game...

18physics5xh.jpg

Then Japan fell into a lot more trouble than she was before.

19irovjap0of.jpg

Ouch... poor Tokugawa.

Then Japan did something very silly...

20japvzulu3at.jpg

Tokugawa doesnt like life does he?

d'Tupace called up her now somewhat beleagured friend Shaka and offered to sell him physics, who knows he might get something good from it?

Zulu: Physics for Printing Press + Monarchy + World Map

The Aztecs then joined Japan against Zululand

d'Tupace then watched a Bab cavalry ride past.
And its still only 610AD!

d'Tupace realised after a quick check of the Bab's tech list that this was the best chance to get to tech parity. She disobeyed her own personal rules on steals and risked an immediate steal (not enough cash for a safe) and was delighted to see it work!

23demo7zj.jpg

d'Tupace now knew every tech that anyone knew. It made her feel smart.

d'Tupace continued in the war as Toky had no intention to discuss peace and d'Tupace still had an alliance with the Aztecs to honour. While clearing the area around what was once Nara a lad by the name of Napolean came to her attention.

25leader5hl.jpg

Despite hearing stories of his exceptional generalship d'Tupace thought he would be put to better use being worked to death on her summer house in Osaka. d'Tupace likes summer houses, and shoes, and ivory jewellry, and helmets. Not sure why she likes helmets but she has a bit of a thing for them. Maybe soon she'll get over it and go for a nice uniform or something.

Monty then persuaded Hami to get in on the act with japan. I guess Hami wanted to get a piece of Japan before d'Tupace got it all.

27babvjap2bz.jpg

d'Tupace was greatly saddened to learn that historians no longer considered France to be in a Golden Age, merely a 'boom period'. It was too soon to be gone!

28noga6yr.jpg

Those new cavalry proved to be quite the luvliest of attackers.

Japan was now reduced to just two productive cities.

Unfortunately due to time constraints d'Tupace was forced to go to bed, she had some silly legal exam on the next day. Why is d'Tupace doing a legal exam? She IS the law! :queen:

You meen Zulu. Interesting Japan declared war on them twice without peace in between. :hmm:

Oh, and AFAIK you should name her "Joan de Tupace", because d' appears only when there's a vowel in the beggining of the next word (like in Joan d'Arc).

Why would he bother to make peace and then declare again? Just declare twice!

Oh, and i didn't comment on your update! Very nice, even if the GA is over!

I have never EVER successfully stolen a tech except at "safe" levels of expenditure. And usually that option is so expensive I can only afford to use it by very late in the game--by which time I'm usually ahead of everyone else anyway. It's good to see that someone is getting some use out of this option. For me, it's just a cheap way to provoke a war when I want to take someone else down a peg or throw off their upgrades.

She started out last because she started with such a poor start - no food bonuses, so couldn't grow.

I assume she's losing ground, even though she is more productive, because the AI's all have temples/Cathedral/coluseums/marketplaces, so their citizens are all jumping for joy.

d'Tupace had taken a short break to work some of her other assignments when she returned once again to the throne of France. She had reached an interturn and was thus unable to do... well anything really.

While she watched the world unfold she noticed that the Zulu, her allies against Babylon, were starting to get into real trouble.

1irovzulu0dx.jpg

Then Hiawatha marched into Paris and demanded a trade. Furs and silks from France in exchange for spices and 7gpt from the Iroquois. d'Tupace wasn't completely satisfied considering that she had once been able to get a luxury and then some for silks not that long ago, but she accepted anyway.

Then d'Tupace's advisors informed her she was again allowed to give instructions to her troops. The instructions were pretty simple, after all the sheeple can only understand simple things, thats why ruling is left to d'Tupace.
Kagoshima was the target and capture, the instructions.

2kagoshima3yl.jpg

The army was then given the same orders, but with Tokyo the target. However some of the members of the army had real difficulty in keeping together

3tokyo5sp.jpg

Then Babylon pulled Germany into the Zulu war as well

4germvzulu6qs.jpg

d'Tupace was really starting to feel sorry for the Zulu, after all getting them into a war with Babylon was her fault in the first place... oh well what can you do?

d'Tupace's cavalry had to head south after Tokyo as Monty the useless had failed to take that 1 Japanese city... how hopeless can you be??

Still it proved no problem for d'Tupace.

5yokohama3xa.jpg

Oh... sorry Tokugawa, looks like you drew the short straw in starting next to a member of the Tupac family!

6deadjap4gp.jpg

d'Tupace noticed that every civilization save hers, the Zulu and the Russians had entered a distinctly new age in tehir development.... she had to catch up, yet again.

She started by calling on a favour from a 'friend'

7iroquoistrade6bw.jpg

Then she took her home-research-stealing kit with her to Berlin, the most advanced city in the world.

8germanysteal0go.jpg

9magnestism9gb.jpg

10nationalism3nw.jpg

She was now not only on par with the leaders (Babylon and Germany) but ahead compared to most others. d'Tupace was feeling so happy she agreed to teach the beleagured Zulu's a trick or two... ok one.

11zulutrade1ff.jpg

Not that Democracy would do them any good!

d'Tupace also decided that the time had come for Monty to be put out of his misery. And pay for his failure in the alliance!

12aztecwar59ki.jpg

d'Tupace wondered, what is that like the fifth time she'd been at war with the ugly aztecs?

d'Tupace showed so little regard for the aztecs she didnt even bother with a plan of attack, instead just changing in everyone and anyone. It worked though, and was mercifully quick.

13tlaxcala9tj.jpg

14atzcapotzalco3cg.jpg

15deadaztecs4gl.jpg

And so now 2 of France's 3 old enemies were gone. Dead. Finito. Kicked the bucket. This left d'Tupace in a position to purse revenge on the 1 remaining nation who needed be brough to justice. Babylon, however as d'Tupace's military advisor regretfully informed her, France was 'weak' compared to Babylon.

The zulu were still alive, although struggling slightly so d'Tupace decided to help them out of their little mess. Well not really, but it sounds nicer than, robbing a dying man blind.

16zulutrade7oo.jpg

She also contacted baldy and made arrangements to get some of his wonderful dyes for use in her hair. After all its not like he's ever going to need to use them!
d'Tupace had to give him furs and wines in order to get the dyes but she had plenty of both so was more than happy to trade. The people were pretty happy too.

d'Tupace then decided to teach Cathy about Gravity, and how if she didn't get her weight under control gravity would permenantly stick her to the ground.

17russiatrade8an.jpg

d'Tupace didn't like Cathy very much, and nor did Cathy like d'Tupace very much, especially after comments like that.
Then Zululand got a double break.

18zuluiroquoispeace5rr.jpg

19babzulupeace7uq.jpg

d'Tupace had spent some time now learning how to make sick people better while Baldy, the silly man, had been learning how to give his power away to the sheeple. Imagine!

Still d'Tupace didn't realise how useless it would be to her until after they'd swapped.

20germtrade8sd.jpg

Hammi then paid through the nose, and up front, to get his hands on French medicine

21babtrade7fx.jpg

And Hiawatha, the silly man, did likewise to learn about giving away power!

22irotrade1cg.jpg

d'Tupace would never understand men who did things like that, for as long as she would live. Or more accurately, as long as they would live.

d'Tupace signed a Mutual Protection Pact with the Iroquois, Hiawatha thought it odd as neither of them really needed protection at present. But he didn't know what d'Tupace had planned...
