I think the British establishment has never really forgiven the Beatles for toking on a big spliff in the lavs at Buckingham Palace before collecting their MBEs.

Actually it's not true. George 9in his memoir) said that getting the award was so serious that it was actually a cigarette, and the next thing he knew the press would turn it into a bomb!

He would say that though wouldn't he! Although at least the Beatles were a lot more honest than other people about their drug use (McCartney's admission of taking LSD and dope comes to mind).

I have heard it was not true as well. I think they were too stoned at the time to actually remember whether it was or not.

I think we need a Jim Morrison Stamp. Some how, Germany, Benin, Eritrea, St. Vincent, The Congo, Abkhazia, Touva and Turkmenistan all have postage stamps with Jim Morrison on it, but not America.
