The Los Angeles Times said:
Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr., the masterful attorney who gained prominence as an early advocate for victims of police abuse, then achieved worldwide fame for successfully defending football star O.J. Simpson on murder charges, died this afternoon. He was 67.

Cochran died at his home in the Los Feliz section of Los Angeles of an inoperable brain tumor, according to his brother-in-law Bill Baker. His wife and his two sisters were with him at the time of his death.

I remember watching the O.J. trial on CNN way back when...

I remember my dad being glued to the television when the OJ trial was on. 11 years ago was it?

I didn't know he was that old.

Anyway, its sad to hear. He was quite a character.

Ladies and gentlemen of the supposed jury, Chef's attorney would certainly want you to believe that his client wrote "Stinky Britches" ten years ago. And they make a good case. Hell, I almost felt pity myself!

But ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider: Ladies and gentlemen this [pointing to a picture of Chewbacca] is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now, think about that. That does not make sense! Why would a Wookiee—an eight foot tall Wookiee—want to live on Endor with a bunch of two foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense!

But more important, you have to ask yourself, what does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense!

Look at me, I'm a lawyer defending a major record company, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca. Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense. None of this makes sense!

And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberating and conjugating the Emancipation Proclamation... does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense.

If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests.

If the glove dont fit you must acquit.

Black people look younger than they are. That's one advantage of being black. :) (I'm not black btw)

Sad to hear. I was not expecting him to die any time soon. He looked like he was only in his 50s.

Now who's going to defend OJ when they find some sort of crazy new evidence?

Perhaps now that Cochran is dead, we can steal his Chewbacca defense!

It's a shame he's going to be remembered mainly for getting O.J. off. He participated in some major civil rights cases and is certainly one of the top defense attorneys of the last century.

Why would that be a shame? He did a very good job getting him off :) That's what defense attorneys do: get people off.

Poor Johnnie, now the devil gets to eat his soul...

THE CHEWBACCA DEFENSE WILL LIVE ON!
