not to jinx this game, but I've been thinking a bit. Perhaps ya'll would like to try your hands at another SG after this one, one more...action-packed.

I'm talking Conquest, baby! [party] It's clobberin' time! Head-smashin' and war mongerin'

Prelimenary thoughts:
Map: Fractal (or Pangea if others want)
Size: Standard
Opponents: 7 (so 8 civs total, 1 more than normal)
Game Speed: Epic
Difficulty: Prince/Monarch (depending)
Leader: Nappy (since we just played Louis, it might be interesting to see how france changes under new mgmt)/Bismarck/Genghis. (this is still up for discussion, but i want someone NOT typically used or not as popular).

Victory: all enabled, Conquest is the only win we can do. (if we'd like, we *could* take off Dom)
Variant: "Total Kill" enabled: All cities AND units must be destroyed for a civ to be eliminated.

With leo de carpio? musketeers? neat=P

yeah, that's the one. Well, for any who haven't read/seen it, the man in the locked up in the iron mask is rightful king of france (and the brother of the imposter king IIR my dumas C). The overall idea being that Nappy was the man in the mask and has been restored to the throne of France and he's pissed, so hence the conquest victory.

edit: plus, i LVOE the idea of pairing the musketeers up w/the cavalry for some fast moving armies. I've been dying to try out this tactic.

Well, i think musketeers sucks, they have nothing special. But, Nappy's attributes are good and it will be fun (btw the locked king is Louis XIV =P).

I'm in. It might be fun to try conquest with India or Mali but I could certainly enjoy a Man in the Iron Mask SG. I'd be willing to give Monarch a try. It'll be even more challenging to get a conquest victory with domination enabled. We just need to be real picky at chosing an occasional city to keep as a forward base so as not to trigger the domination territory threshold.

I used to think that since they were only str9, but i think the 2 mvt pts is key to effectively using them. Basically, you are able to keep w/cav's (and so defend them in the open field), wreak havoc on cities, and effectively respond to internal threats. I think they are undervalued, actually. I hope that this SG proves it :D

If most of us are playing at Prince now, then I think monarch should be the way to go.

Frankcor ~ glad you're here! :) I don't want to make it too crazy of a variant, esp after this game (which had no variant specialized and is unlike any game i've played before ~ it sure has taught me to make Magellan's a priority)

Monarch is perfect for an SG for you. I was just at Monarch right before the patch, and now, afterwards, i'm here in limbo btwn the two ~ one is too hard, the other's too easy. W/all of us here correcting each other, it won't be a big deal i think.

edit: all right Jericho! we just need Lobsterboy to okay (and of course, Skunk is still welcome if his comp isn't still dead ~ )
