Presumably World of Warcraft Classic, releasing in August: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/wowclassic
England has plenty of tools to colonise other continents and the game provides additional tools too.
The problem is that it's just not worth the effort. You're better just putting those resources into your existing Cities.
We just need two things IMO. Continent and fractal maps that create more island chains in addition to big land blobs, so you have room to create colonies (Terra map would be good too). And a better incentive to have colonies - not just more hammers and gold, but something more unique. eg additional Diplo favour, more era score, envoys. Dunno. Just a good reason to leave home.
We don't know. Could be as early as eight hours from now after the livestream or as late as sometime next week. The official word is "soon"
They might want to wait for feedback on the stream to make some last minute tweeks.
FWIW, I just noticed that the new dark age cards are each specifically tailored to help bring a victory to a close. The only victory type not represented was religious (and score). This seems to be making ending in a dark age less annoying.
Yes, I highly approve of those new cards. It almost makes ending in a Dark Age attractive.
England was heavily invaded until the Normans. Never was a great early civ and even after that struggled for a while before becoming strong. I am perfectly fine they are a crap nation that gets an industrial era boom. That’s how it should be for them. Every dog has its day, sure it’s not at the start of the game but every civ should have a strong era.
TBH Sumeria should start with a golden age.
Thematically victories themselves seem kind of dark. Having one civilization dominate over everyone other Civilization in one way or another doesn't sound very pleasant for everyone else,Which, I think, isn't good. Does it really make sense to win in a dark age? The game presents dark ages as low points for your civilization. It's hard to say that conquering the world via culture, or launching an exoplanet mission, or whatever is a low point. It feels thematically wrong.
I have a particular bugbear with the Spanish Armada being lost due to storms. It was more than the English Navy but if Lizzy had not held her purse strings so tight the English would have routed them. Smaller faster ships, highly experienced sailors, great guns, no ammo.... but let’s leave it there and not talk of the English Armada. Funny how the history books are rewritten.a large pool of experienced sailors and sea captains upon which to build a navy.
I tend to think of it as winning through more nefarious means. Winning through disinformation is technically a possible route to convincing others you should be world leader, but it might be morally frowned upon. Going to space on the backs of robots is technically a way to do it, but will you have an unemployment crisis to deal with on the domestic front? It’s a nice tongue in cheek reference to how current events may unfold.Which, I think, isn't good. Does it really make sense to win in a dark age? you know, there are other victory types that domination?Thematically victories themselves seem kind of dark. Having one civilization dominate over everyone other Civilization in one way or another doesn't sound very pleasant for everyone else,
and in fact seems much more like a dystopia than anything else.
I specifically said "in one way or another" to specify all the victory types. Religious victory is one Religion dominating all the others, Culture victory is havingyou know, there are other victory types that domination?
You could say that is a victory for every other civone that doesn't fit is the Science victory
that involves leaving for space

culture victory is about attracting tourists, diplo victory is about cooperating with others (allies, citystates, voting in blocks)I specifically said "in one way or another" to specify all the victory types. Religious victory is one Religion dominating all the others, Culture victory is having
one Civilizations culture dominate all others, diplomatic victory is using diplomacy to dominate world politics. The only one that doesn't fit is the Science victory
