June/July Patch Notes

hmm... looks good imho...

It also looks like they have taken my suggestion of a level above Deity, by moving all the levels up one in difficulty.

Can't wait to try it, this looks very interesting, but it'll need a few games to really get used to!

LOL it will obsolete all those threads about best civ, best wonder etc!

I suspect it will make it tough or impossible for anyone with a game going in the later stages at higher levels that has not got some happiness stored up!

Great job Fraxis, it is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into this. While I may not agree with everything, I have to wholeheartedly support the intentions behind it.

Swordman that needs no iron?
Calling it - Iroquois most powerful civ post patch

Didnt the jagur worrior from the aztecs dont require iron in civ 4 i didnt found that overpowered....

However it actually isnt that powerfull you still need the iron for longswordsman and you need longswordsman to upgrade them to rifleman or you dont need that?

Yes but early swordsman rushes are easy to do, with this you can have no iron at all and easily take out the civ with the most iron, upgrading them all from there

That's because they were weaker than Swordsmen and you only needed one source of iron to build as many swordsmen as you want/can afford.
Ironless mohawk warriors really do seem extremely powerful. No tradeoff between swordsmen and catapults.

Ironclad upgrades to Battleship
Finally! Before ironclads where dead-end units with no real purpose except eat up coal that could be used for factories. Still won't build them, but at least they can upgrade!:)

Very worried about the happiness adjustments...

With all the happiness bonuses the AI gets, it already feels like the human player and the AI are playing a different game, now it will be even worse.

And the hanging gardens...10 food, except you wont have the happiness to use the food to grow pop.

Windmills? Really? Like the 15% we were getting was so powerful?

I agree :D

except that being a 'dead-end' unit kinda requires that something led to it... in this case, it was more about being 'useless'.

Sorry for my word inaccuracies

This patch looks great, But why the -50% nerf to china's UA? Haven't they had the bejesus nerfed out to them already?

Hotseat, Replay's, Looking foward to it. Might actually get me into multiplayer.
Great Library buff and NC nerf is intresting, makes the TGL a more important wonder.

Looks like i'll be reinstalling my game! Good job 2K. Now all we need is the ETA. :)

I'm a little worried about having to trade for luxuries with the state of the AI diplomacy, which is pretty much a random number generator.
I have never traded for resources, since the AI almost always declares war and leaves you flat footed at happiness -10. Nurturing good diplomacy is impossible.

This all wouldn't worry me so much if the AI had to play by the same happiness rules, but this is specifically going to hurt the human player.

Think I'll definitly take a backup of my binaries before I update.

There are a few more positive modifiers here so it might be easier to maintain good relations with friends.

China was very strong to begin with, but I agree that they are probably the civ that has been nerfed the most by now.

However:
Increased Crossbowman and Chu-Ko-Nu combat and ranged strength.
If you want to set up a killzone near one of your cities there's nothing better than two or three zhūgěnǔ (the non-obsolete transliteration of 諸葛弩) before the advent of Artillery, adn they still have a very good UB.

Imho, Egypt.
- Most Wonders are better or must-haves.
- Aristocracy (+20% wonder production) is nerfed to 15%, making it harder for other civs.
- Wonder bonuses in policies better than before.
- War Chariot improved
- Burial Tomb has specialist slot (back).

I have it from a good source, that the next DLC civ will be totally original. It will be named The Nerfium Kingdom and it's hammers/research/gold/culture/happiness will slowly decrease automatically as the game progresses. Did I forget to mention, that if you choose to play as this civ, all other AI civs in the game automatically play at deity level. :D

Forcing me to get happiness through SPs/wonders instead of buildings/lux resources will be interesting to say at the least.
