[NFP] June update speculation and wish list

A few improvements I would like to see for the UI are:

  • For policy cards, it would be great if it would tell you exactly how much you will gain in yields from slotting a particular card. For example, rationalism gives “extra science from buildings in campuses” - how much does that add up to?
  • In the cultural victory tab, it has a little icon saying for example 30 turns to victory. Next turn it might say 50 turns to victory as it seems to depend on how much tourism you had in the last turn. It would be better if it was an average of last 5 turns
  • There should be a notification when a luxury trading deal expires.
 
- Trade renewals, (automatic) or a prompt if a trade deal is about to expire, this is especially useful for luxuries

- Some console specific minor big fixes like wonky Victory Conditions UI on the Switch version
- Again on consoles, make enriched floodplains and volcanic soil more clear on consoles (Switch), we just get a minor discoloration on the tile

Do we have a guess yet (perhaps form @WillowBrook or @Eagle Pursuit ) on when we think the "June Patch" will drop?
I assume that Firaxis hasn't told us anything yet - we know that's not their style.

I'm expecting around the 23rd or so, based purely on being a full month past when NFP first started. There's no SteamDB evidence to support it yet.
 
I thought the next update was July ?

The July update mentions a new district, that will be fun to guess what it is.
 
I see this as very unlikely.
The “DLC patches” will bring free content alongside the paid one.
The “inbetween patches” will fix bugs and possibly balance existing content. (I am looking at you, Gran Colombia!)

I thought it was the other way around from what they've said. That the in-between patches will have free content and the DLC patches will primarily be bug fixes.

Stops confusion for people about what's paid content and what's free.
 
Something I think would be cool...if melee units and scouts getting the option to pick perks from each other's trees if the unit itself is used often enough for that purpose. Like I send a warrior out scouting, eventually he can move faster in hills and forests. Or if I fight enough barbs with a scout...eventually he gets melee tree perks. Sounds too complicated for Civ VI and maybe more of a Civ VII type of wish, but meh.
 
Evidently stealing/trading great works got broken in New Frontiers, so that really needs fixed.
 
This is a pipe dream (more so for future parts of the Frontier Pass), but I want to see the unit tree expanded. Medieval Era Longswordsmen, Industrial Era riflemen, Renaissance Era cavalry, a Medieval Trebuchet... The list goes on. Really, I'd just like the unit tree be brought up to the level of Civ 5.

The Steel and Thunder mod in the workshop adds all these, as well as some naval units. All the assets look very professional too. I only recently installed it, so I can't say how well the AI uses the new units.
 
Some hopefully realistic wishes for a free content patch:
- something to deal with the situation of an ally attacking my city state (various solutions have been proposed elsewhere)
- additional diplomatic options (examples earlier in this thread)
- if we don't get a full-blown health mechanic to flesh out the current housing mechanic, then something to make bonus resources affect housing - e.g., each unique improved bonus resource within six tiles of the city center provides 0.5 housing, increasing to 1 somewhere in the tech tree.
- revise beliefs as they did with pantheons
 
It’s been mentioned a few times, but just to stamp the postcard - I’d really like to see some balance passes at some of the other Civs.

If the team are cutting fast and loose with power levels now (and +1 movement to everything indicates to me they are), then take some of the chains from other Civs abilities.

Off the top of my head, France really could do with a wonder boost in all eras and the % could do with going up, and many many others!

We are getting a new Catherine in July so I'm curious to see what they do with her. By the looks of it she will use luxuries for tourism.
 
Honestly, my biggest wish is to see a patch rework the world congress. How it worked in civ 5 was perfect, please just revert back to this.

I would also like to see ideologies return, to make tourism do something besides winning a cultural victory. Similarly, I think religions should have a big diplomatic bonus/penalty in the medieval era. Sharing religions with another civ should make them like you a lot more, and vice versa.

Finally, I would like to see some way to spend great writers/artists/musicians besides their great works. I don't like how they can end up piling up...

How it worked in Civ5 was horrible, but that doesn't make Civ6 an improvement. I'd rather just see World Congress made a game mode so it can be turned off.
