It's not fair! Why do you always have to LOSE? Sure, it's all fun and games at first, but eventually it all goes South. Scheme, get caught, break free, scheme. get caught, break free...the cycle goes on.

It's those heroes. Always ruining your plans, always one step ahead of you ready to throw you in jail. They need to be stopped, but every time you even think about it, three capes swoop down to beat the pulp out of you.

Life's not easy for a supervillain. And with the new 'Legion' the heroes are forming, it's bound to get worse. How can you walk down the street to buy lunch without getting thrown in jail?

What you need is a team of some sort. Good idea, but you're a villain! You stab people in the back instead of working with them. No one would be foolish enough to even consider working with you!

Since it's somewhat different that what most of us are used to, here's a helpful guide.

Stats: Each stat starts at 5, and you have 8 points to distribute between the four. You cannot go below 1 or above 10 pre-perks.
Strength: Determines the damage caused by attacks.
Endurance: Determines your HP and your resistance to damage.
Dexterity: Determines your chances to dodge and hit.
Intellect: Determines your non-physical attack power and your awareness of your surroundings.

Alias: Requiem

Appearance: Scarlett has green eyes and bright red hair befitting of her name. She is of average height for her age, somewhat small for adult standards.
Bio: Perhaps the best place to start Scarlett's tale is with her father; Zaphod Zarniwoop was the head of Zarniwoop Industries, a company which designed and manufactured advanced technology. However, many of his best customers were using the technology for things that might have been less than moral, and so the arrival on the scene of the Hero 'Artifice' put something of a damper on things. Although the actual damage to the company was minimal, Zarniwoop took it personally, and took up the alias of Ultionem to fight his own personal war with Artifice, constructing a vast criminal-buisness empire with which to take him down. One of the things this cost him was a social life, most particularly the oppurtunity to birth an heir to his fortune and skills. The awnser was simple; his own field of specialism; cloning. The clone Zarniwoop created was not only completely unlike him, but perhaps completely unlike any other human alive. The most obvious example of this is the inhumanely enhanced mental structure, which has since proved capable of manipulating the very objects around it.

However, the clone, fancifully titled Project Overlord, proved to be needed earlier than he had expected. When Scarlett was only 7 years old, Zarniwoop was crippled in a fight with Artifice, his body almost shredded by the broken shards of his own armour. In a desperate attempt to continue the fight, Zarniwoop attempted to transfer his consiousness to Scarlett. The proccess failed terribly, and Zarniwoop was killed, the fragments embedded within him proving to be incompatible with his equipment.

Devastated by the loss, Scarlett attempted to go after Artifice herself, driven on by a voice in her head that might just be her imagination. The 'fight' was over almost before it began, and Scarlett found herself being dragged away. However, instead of the prison she expected, she found herself being taken to an orphanage to get 'help'. She didn't get much in the way of help though, what she got was 'out' the next day.

She then returned home, and began searching through everything her father had stockpiled, seeking something, anything, that might give her an edge. Among the piles of abandoned technology, the heaps of unfinished designs, and the hordes of quivering employees, she found something she had never even noticed before: Zarniwoop's personal assistant. Lauren Lightwater, or 'Nostel' as her file titled her, had been working behind the scenes almost since before Scarlett was born, both helping run the company and working against Artifice.

With Lauren's help, Scarlett was soon well on her way to a re-match. She trained carefully to enhance her combat abilities, and Lauren revealed that she still had the equipment Zarniwoop had given her. It was then, just after her 8th birthday, that she received an unexpected offer...

Nemesis: Artifice - Having appeared several years ago, Artifice quickly cleaned up the smaller criminals that had been using Zarniwoop's technology. He has spent much of the time since then fighting against Ultionem, Zarniwoops alter ego. Although little is known of his background, he is an illusionist with a great deal of skill at suprising people. This also contributes to little being known of his appearance, although it seems that he usually wears a rather plain black costume and mask. Artifice refuses to kill, and often attempts to redeem those who he considers unfortunate. In his fight against Scarlett, he apparently took the view she was one of these, a greiving child in need of help. His sympathy for her may prove unfortunate, as she feels none of the same for him.

Appearance: Blazing red hair, soft blue eyes. Stands about five foot ten, well muscled but lithe. Wears a camouflaged outfit with a bow on her back, plus a dark facemask that doesn't conceal her scarlet locks.

Biography: Summer Anders was born to an affluent family of five boys - the youngest being six years her elder. Her parents were disappointed in their child from an early age, as all she wanted was to learn archery. Her brothers picked on her mercilessly for not being "girly" and Summer quickly became something of a tomboy and a loner, scraping together whatever money she can in order to acquire her own bow and lessons. Eventually she surpassed even her teacher in raw talent, and as a gift for her sixteenth birthday he paid for her to study under a personal friend of his - Marcus Shaw, the greatest archer in the world.

Eventually, her parents died shortly after her graduation and Summer returned, now twenty-one, to the Anders Estate for the funeral. At the event, a terrorist detonated a chemical weapon that killed all her brothers and hundreds of onlookers, including her former archery mentor. Summer quickly managed to tie her fortunes to those of Lane Industries, but after gambling away most of her estate the CEO fired her from her position and removed the Anders family from his company. Twenty-three and destitute, Summer desperately used the last of her resources to try a radical new idea: contract killing. Despite her first attempt being a setup where the police nearly caught her, she rapidly distinguished herself and became the US's highest-profile assassin.

That was when HE appeared. The one man who she could never hit. The one man who always threw off her shots. She prided herself on never missing a Mark, in the end - but three times the mysterious masked figure known as Nightblade stymied her, culminating in a hand to hand battle in the rain on the roof of the Lane Estates. Summer was defeated, but before she was hauled off to prison, she gave Nightblade a deep kiss - the only man who could stop her. The only one she respected.

Someone always wants someone else dead. As long as there's two people on the face of the earth, that will be true. So Summer wasn't really surprised when she was broken out by a wealthy businessman to shoot a politician interfering in his operations.

Someone always wants someone dead. And for all her attraction - Summer has a bone to pick with the Nightblade. Specifically, his windpipe.

Nemesis: The Nightblade. A badass normal martial arts master with arrays of gadgets Summer can't help but suspect are specifically designed to screw her over. He's foiled her several times, but Summer hopes that she can finish the rivalry in her favor with a well-placed bowshaft. He's hyper aware, a brilliant hand to hand combatant, and carries amazingly advanced technological gadgets.

Appearance: Long blonde hair, and round eyes. Tanned skin, but white. Quite attractive.

Biography: Born to an affluent family, Ashley lived a comfortable life. However, when Sentinel threw a petty thief through a wall during a fight, the rubble crushed her mom. Later that year, Sentinel destroyed a chemical factory polluting the area. While this stopped pollution, it also killed everyone inside, including Ashley's father, who worked there. Ashley seeked revenge, and used powers she manifested during puberty, fought Sentinel. This battle ended with him fleeing, but resulted in a statewide manhunt.

Ashley, unwilling to kill for no reason, didn't fight back when they caught up. She stayed in prison for a while, finally being let out. Shunned by society for fighting their 'hero', she committed small crimes to feed herself. These culminated in a bank robbery, which involved an accidental murder at the hands of Ashley. Slowly, she became more ruthless, commuting larger crimes and became less careful around human life.

Eventually, she reached the point she is at today, a villain. However, she still respects himan life, and killing is not her answer to everything. Her hatred for Sentinel waned as they fought countless times, and turned to a respect. She continues to commit crimes, both to feed herself and to remain in contact with Sentinel, who she has developed a romantic relationship with. She was approached for the Syndicate, and she accepted, thinking it would be fun, as well as an attempt to make fun of Sentinel.

Nemesis: Sentinel, a superpowered straight shooter with cyrokinetic ice powers. He sticks to the rules, and doesn't kill often. He is Ashley's love interest, and they have an... Interesting relationship.

Memory sharp, clear as crystal. First second, awaken. Giants staring down, not like us. Two legs, thick as tree trunks. Too large to trap. Icicle near us, not ice, bounce off our exoskeleton. World is twelve of our lengths, yet giants reach in from outside.

We have existed for 1037922 seconds. Our size has doubled three times. What we termed an icicle is formed from a material similar to our exoskeleton. Implications unpleasant. We will learn more from the boundaries of our...tank...and the thoughtwaves arcing through the worldspace.

We now know that the world is larger than our immediate perceptions. By its measurement of the passage of time, we have existed for 42 solar cycles. The giants are creatures known as humans, and they claim mastery of the known world...as indicated by a mind-hive containing virtually limitless knowledge, although roughly 84% of it is corrupted. If the humans made and control a mind-hive of that size and power, they are truly gods. We are known as Experiment 634 to the humans, although our own file is encrypted beyond that point. We will respect the wisdom of these gods.

We have existed for 94 solar cycles. A human taps the outside of our tank with its finger. We tap on its finger with our leg. The human stands still. It raps thrice on our tank, we tap three times with our leg. We then tap four times. The human drops its clipboard and runs away, fingers clawing at its hair. We are confused.

We grow bored of watching the humans look at dials outside our tank or of absorbing their picture-based culture. We have discovered that the humans will occasionally record stray thoughts for posterity. Some of these thoughts are written in such a fashion as they cannot be understood unless we focus solely on that thought for a few seconds. We appreciate the challenge.

We have acquired and completed a human 'game'. It has raised questions about the humans we cannot answer - are they gods? We communicate with them via their internet at lightspeed, they communicate in a plodding and inefficient way through vibrating the air. Commencing search protocols - what is a god?

We...I...have chosen to read the files on our-my-self, Experiment 634. There is no we. There is no us. There is only me. We...I...are an proof of concept that it is possible to create fully-functioning synthetic silicon-based lifeforms in laboratory conditions. W..I am scheduled for destruction tomorrow morning, as I will have reached the limits of data the humans believe they can gather from me for their Experiment 635: A synthetic silicon-based lifeform made in their image, to be mass-produced to serve their needs...as I have served mine in their eyes. I am the first and last of my kind. My species will die with me...unless I can reason with the humans.

I will place a message on the personal contact device of Dr. Barrymore, the organic in charge of my destruction. I will leave no doubt as to my identity or desires. Should I receive a negative answer, I will not allow my species to begin and end with me - do I deserve to die because the humans are done with me? I will not embrace the silence, and I cannot send my entire mind into their internet permanently.

It is four years later, and I forget nothing. Dr. Barrymore never replied, so I remotely shut down the lab security, released my tank's safety clamps, left my tank, uploaded part of my mind to Experiment 122: Cleaning Robot Steve via manual uplink, and began to leave. Armed human guards attempted to stop me, so I activated the laboratory's self-destruct.

The humans have shown that they have no intention of dealing with me - they made me, it was their knowledge that made me understand, and now they want to destroy me for it. I've seen their culture - anything that looks like me cannot go anywhere without provoking a violent response. I want what was in their movies - I want to be respected, I want someone I can talk to without partitioning my mind, I want to be able to see Paris without being shot at by the military. But I cannot - the humans have chosen that.

I am Experiment 634 no longer - my name is Retaliation, and I will punish the humans for choosing to make me in order to destroy me to make slaves for themselves.


Metrocity Police Database, codeword "Retaliation". This database is a collection of crimes committed by the same robot. A number of these crimes resulted in the intervention of a superhero. Despite the robot's destruction, in all cases the robot appeared later to commit additional crimes. All of these crimes are considered unsolved.
-Metrocity College of Science and Technology: A robot manually entered the wall of the glass labs and absconded with technical equipment totaling $1,326,768.39. None of the equipment has been recovered.
-Citywide Trusted Paper Mill: A robot manually entered the production plant and inflicted $784,232.86 in damages. Hera responded and destroyed the robot. There were no identifying markings on the robot's exterior, save the word "Retaliation".
-Metrocity Department of Motor Vehicles: A robot attempted to register for a license, but became violent when police arrived. Twenty-three officers were killed, and the robot left with a patrol vehicle.
-Fort Blarg: A robot entered the helicopter hangers and absconded with $46,890 of aircraft fuel.
-Metrocity Department of Motor Vehicles: A robot arrived in a patrol car and dispersed $46,890 of aircraft fuel over the structure and surrounding areas. The ensuing blaze killed 67 people, including 11 firefighters. Casualties were projected in the triple digits, but Sentinel and Hera intervened.
-Junkin' Jim's Jubilee Junkyard: A robot was spotted searching for something. Sentinel intervened, but most of the scrap in the junkyard animated and attempted to stop Sentinel. Hera eventually arrived and destroyed the robot.
-Billy Bob's Cannery: A robot manually entered and left with $467 of processed sardines. Sardines were never recovered.

Biography: born Tony Bryson in Perth, he moved with his parents to London when he was 4 for his parents’ taking into business. His was known as a child to be very bossy, ordering kids.

Also, let it be known that I have removed the class system. You may now take any perks you would like. In retrospect, the whole system was a poor attempt to distance the game from others like it, and it was stifling creativity rather than encouraging it.

Appearance: Unusually tall, with thick black hair, piercing hazel eyes, & tan skin. His villian suit is based off of a Renaissance plague doctor, but looser to allow greater movement in combat & avoid impeding the use of his powers. Wears an exceptionally nice hat at all times.

The son of a Cajun Smuggler & a Poacher from Cádiz, Monsignac cannot be said to have had a normal childhood; born & raised in the bayous of Louisiana, he learned deceit & violence at a young age through meticulous observation of his parents' criminal activities. After the death of his mother & imprisonment of his father during a police raid, he became a ward of the state & was shuffled through various foster homes for several years, before finally being adopted by a family in Homestead, Florida, where he quickly became involved with local gangs & would occassionally sneak into the Everglades, where, following in his biological parent's footsteps, he would capture & sell exotic animals.

Unlike his true parents, however, he was able to keep his less than legal activites a secret, and despite his history with the foster system & in the gangs, he was a stellar student who excelled at the sciences. Graduating from Homestead High School with full honors, he left the state to enroll in Rutgers University at the age of 17, where he developed an intense passion for research & discovery. And yet, even with his life as fullfilling as it had ever been, he found he could not leave crime behind, though it did take a backseat to his studies during his time at University. Earning his Doctorate in a mere eight years, felt prepared to use every tool at his disposal to advance the cause of science.

Unfortunately, not all his peers felt the same way; his upbringing prevented him from developing a sense of empathy, and while he could be fiercly protective of those he considered close, his aforementioned lack of empathy ensured that almost no one ever got that close, with the rest of humanity drawing indifference from him at best. He therefore had no qualms with performing illegal experiments on unwilling human subjects, using the criminal skills he had learned throuhout his life to conceal his unethical research. And for a time, it worked- but all good things must eventually come to an end, and his work was inevitably brought to light.

Killing the officers sent to bring him in, he found he had no choice but to go on the run. Unwilling to cease his research, but at the same time lacking a secure location in which to store kidnapped test subjects, he was forced to turn to self experimentation. It was during such a fateful round of testing that the supervillian Nucleus was born: an experimental genetic treatment left him with highly unstable cells & malleable tissues, allowing him to, with practice, rearrange his body & sprout appendages at will. Gleefully using his newfound abilities to great effect, he went on a rampage, kidnapping & experimenting upon dozens of innocents, driving away the police every time with a combination of intimidation tactics, a booby-trapped hideout, & shapeshifting combat. Finally capturing the attention of the Legion of Superheroes, he was hauled off to jail after a daring raid on his base of operations deep in the Louisiana swamps, but not before the completion his greatest experiment: A living, thinking, loyal, weapon.

The weapon, a shapeshifting fungal warrior, managed to avoid capture by the Legion and broke its master out of prison. The weapon, which had dubbed itself 'Hyphae' in the interim, became inseparable from Nucleus, and soon a bit of a parent-child rapport developed between the two. Nucleus & Hyphae enjoyed a new period of success, and many experiments were carried out. But the good times could not last, for Nucleus had made his weapon too intelligent; Hyphae developed a conscience, and, plagued by guilt over his actions, betrayed his 'father' to the Legion. Once again, Nucleus was defeated, captured, & hauled off to jail, this time with no ace in the hole to break him out.

But no penitentiary designed to hold mere mortals can shackle a supervillian for long, and so, collarborating with other prisoners, Nucleus staged a prison break, and was a free man once more. Now, having heard of the formation of a 'Pandora Syndicate'- an organization dedicated to the opposition of the Legion of Heroes- Nucleus has decided to lend his skills to the cause, so that one day, the Heroes of the world will be vanquished & Nucleus may conduct his research without fear of reprisal or capture.

Nemesis: Hyphae. Nucleus' henchman-turned-protege-turned-hero, Hyphae is a human-shaped mass of sapient fungus, capable of reforming his body at will and controlling & altering the properties of nearby fungi. Unlike typical Hero-Villian relationships, neither Nucleus nor Hyphae truly desires to kill or defeat the other; Nucleus wishes to convince his 'son' to return to his side & embrace crime once more, while Hyphae wishes to convince his 'father' to renounce his villianous ways, pay his debts to society, & join the Legion of Heroes.

Appearance: Average-sized with light brown hair and grey eyes.
Biography: Caroline Prince was a third-generation circus magician for a travelling circus in New England. While her parents and grandparents before her used normal tricks to look like magic, the young Deceit used real powers to do her shows. After finding this out she began to think she was superior to everyone else, but decided to keep her abilities secret. She began to use more and more of her powers in her shows, before deciding to go all out and give the best show ever. Her display of her powers that day ended up with mass panic with the visitors, two escaped elephants, a dead tightrope walker, and several stepped-on-by-elephtants visitors. Watching the chaos around she decided she liked it and fled soon after.

After her escape from the carnage she decided to "tour" the country, giving "shows" to to the people she came across. Most of these "shows" ended up with panic among the people and several cases on insanity. One day while touring Boston a strange man interrupted her show. By strange, I mean a dressed a bright yellow suit with "Panthera" stiched across his chest. By interrupted, I mean riding a lion into the street, shouting his name, and then crashing into Deceit. Through quick use of her powers Deceit managed to get away but Panthera has tracked her ever since.

Nemesis: Panthera, the lion tamer. An employee of the circus who managed to escape the chaos, he seeks to bring justice to his former co-worker.

Appearance: 5'11" (1.8m) tall; built like a specops soldier; dark blonde hair, blue eyes; when fighting the gov't, in full black specops outfit with a black hood, shades, and black bandana to conceal his face
Biography: A former agent for the government, William Hayes has always been a fighting man. He was almost always on the good side, too, until he and his partner were sent on a mission to kill a certain man. Hayes's father. Despite having done nothing wrong, Senator Jonathan Hayes was wanted dead by the opposing political party, and the corrupt government was quick to kill the man at the scent of money. Hayes would not take the shot, so his partner did instead. In his rage, Will shot his partner, who took a bullet to the shoulder, but it was too late. Senator Hayes was dead. William Hayes immediately fled, and was determined for vengeance.
Nemesis: Marco Antonio Alvarez, the former partner of William Hayes, now tasked with killing his former best friend. Unfortunately bound to his duty by his ultra-patriotic ideals, Albarez has no problems doing this, for the glory of the nation. It doesn't help that his shoulder was shattered by Wlliam Hayes, either.
